Thermos mugs

Hello people, just a quick one. Has anyone used or considered using a small flask whilst out riding during the winter months, liking the look of the the Earth Well 355ml mug looks the part and with no cafes open during lockdown maybe a good investment and something to use goin forward any thoughts on these or any others for that matter, cheers peeps

I've never found thermal mugs that good but have recently bought a Thermos Ultimate flask, which is very good.

I've got a couple of the common Lifeventure ones (think they're 355ml as well) - one for coffee and one for everything else because they absorb the flavour, like all flasks. They won't keep something boiling hot all day, but I rarely need to and find coffee is a drinkable temperature after a couple of hours (sooner is too hot).

Got a basic thermos stainless flask which takes half a litre for multiple brews and a freebie stainless 0.33l one for a quick cuppa which I've taped into a section of old waterbottle so it fits in a bottle cage.

That flask Stu has is brilliant I manage to get a good 19hrs of warmth in winter out of it , but it’s not coffe or tea but Ginger soaked in ribena, lovely taste and warms up the inside nicely

Everyone else is like “why didn’t I think of that...!” Taking that idea!!

Have the same as northwind, even take a sea to summit collapsible cup too as it allows the coffee to cook quicker

Ginger and Ribena?! Wow, sounds fantastic

Cut up some ginger put it in the flask and leave it to soak over night , when I was first told about it I was wtf , but tried it and it’s lovely , also helps stop the “hot aches” in winter

If you can get hold of a Stanley flask that will fit the dimensions I’d highly recommend.

I invested in big Stanley flask for some socially distanced brews throughout the lockdown.

I did a couple of surf trips up in the Hebrides last year.

All my mates ended up going out and buying one off the back of one of the trips we did, the water was still scolding hot after 12 hours,.

Contigo mugs are also well worth a look, I used them quite a bit while I was travelling for brews on the go.

I have one of these. It stays put in a cage no problems.
Keeps stuff hot when below 0 outside for about 1.5 hours, warm for 2 to 3 hours. All the heat escapes at the cap and neck.
Last a lot longer insulated in a bag etc.

Somebody gave me a Contigo mug, a couple of Christmases ago - it fits a bottle cage perfectly and keeps drinks hot for hours.

I've got one of these insulated camelbax chute flask / mug things - sits in a bottle cage nicely.

Regular use on cold ride and morning commute so I can enjoy a brew while I ride

I have that earthwell roaster. Fits perfectly in a bottle cage, can flip and close the cap one handed on the go. Keeps my coffee hot. Would recommend.

Zojirushi are reputed to be as good as it gets in terms of insulation. But they're upwards of £30 and I've not yet convinced myself I need one. They're flasks not mugs though, so you may need to take a cup as well. The Thermos Ultimate that Stuart mentioned may well be in the same league in terms of performance (and price). I love taking a thermos with me on a ride, if only as a reason to stop, get off the bike be still and take in my surroundings for a bit. The hot drink is a bonus.

1st attempt on the left, it'll work, but that colour scheme
Found thermos flask abandoned in our office (remember them? a freeby from an exhibition), stuck it into another freebie (yes that is Frankfurt skyline) - still not pretty but at least sort of colour coordinated
