TBH, Dubh Slabs are significantly easier than pretty much anything on grit. Lovely climb, don't get me wrong, but its only got one actual pitch of "climbing"

EDIT: also, the riding is damn impressive.

Just "climbed" the Dubh Slabs once, about twenty years ago. From memory there was just a very short step that required actual climbing (I think this is the bit he's on right at the start and is the drop off over the small overhang) the rest was almost hands in pockets scrambling because the rock is so rough.

Falling on there would result in some severe grazing that would make road rash look like a bit of a scratch! Apart from the bit where he's close to the drop on the right I don't think you'd actually go that far, you literally would just grind to a halt

Still impressive though.

Was at the Kelvingrove Galleries in Glasgow with the family one wet Sunday a few years ago. My eldest son Fraser is a big fan of his. When we got there, Danny was practising on his bike at the front of the building. We asked him if it was ok to watch and he was happy for us to do so. At the end of his practice , he spent a good while chatting to Fraser about his cycling then offered him a shot of his bike. Fraser was ecstatic and I was in near cardiac arrest. While he was whizzing about, my thoughts were, can we afford to pay for the repairs if he falls off?

A fabulous chance for Fraser to do this and a really nice gesture from Danny.

The Onza Octopus tyre was announced in MBUK years ago as an April Fool's joke. If you look carefully in the picture it's actually one of those suction cup soap holders rolled over to look like a section of tyre. At the time Onza was famously known for it's white coloured Porcupine tyre and obviously someone at MBUK noticed that a white soap holder could be made to look like the amazing new Onza tyre that had suction cups instead of knobs.

Talking of onza porcupine’s I see they have reissued them. I seem to remember them as having conical knobs? Things were so much simpler then, it was either a smoke/dart combo or porkies if you’re posh or being cool with the white ones.

Yeah they were like a blunt ended cone, you're right. Smoke&Dart for me though, I never did run Porcs.
