'Made to lose' :???:

There's a video accompanying the new Focus 'Atlas' gravel/adventure/bikepacking bike.

Thought you lot would enjoy the marketing wordsmithery in it :-bd

https://youtu.be/C9N-R73HBug

(And it must all be true as they've got a northerner narrating)

If they'd just turn down the pretentious b*llo©KS it'd be a nice enough advert.

Nice camera work / views. Narration just odd or maybe an example of the purest wibble :???:

I do wonder which one of them had the worst farts and therefore was consigned to the tent and whether this was the same individual throughout the trip or rotated for the person suffering the worst digestive disruption from that days boil-in-the-bag meal

It’s either satire or a trailer for a much longer film or they’re trying to replicate a car advert (why do car adverts show everything but the car...?!)

Best of all a Julie Elliott film came on afterwards to balance things out :-bd

I tried to keep up with what he was talking about but failed miserably, turned the volume down and it was much better!
Would love to go riding like that at the moment though with a few friends.
I cant remember the last time I went to Wales to ride my bike

I liked that.

For those that don't know, that's the area around Loch Ossian/Loch Treig - the old "Road to The Isles".

A bikepacker doing wheelies? Per-lease!

I must have missed the bit with them sitting round the huge campfire though  . If it wasn't there at least that's a huge step forward!

Standard car advert stuff as Voodoo says. Whatever.

Wasn't that the bunch who rode round Ossian / Rannoch / Ericht that had a film out last year? They back tracked the road to the isles about three times and did the trail across the bottom of loch Ericht and nearly disappeared into the swamp....

PS. I'm a bikepacker and I do wheelies....

It kind of feels like it may have been tounge in cheek.

If that's what they meant, well done. If not, I hope the makers can laugh at themselves.

Fun all the same. :-bd

Well the advert must be working to some extent because even though there is a bloke with a sore throat spouting cac, it got us all looking at it and I had no idea that Focus made those bikes before.

Not that I would buy one mind.

Probably the single most important reason for balancing the weight correctly between bar-harness and saddle-pack; too much weight up front = no wheelie, too much weight out back = oops, I'm off again  This should be on the very first page of how-to-pack-your-bikepacking-bags in Stu's forthcoming book

I’ve never managed to master wheelies, I tell myself that they are silly etc and I don’t care but I really do

The strange thing is I spent much of my life riding a motorcycle on the back wheel. I’d drop the clutch if needed, catch it on the back brake and then go through the box, I’d go round corners on one wheel, one handed, with my feet over the handlebars, standing on the seat etc.
Still can’t do it on a push bike, I’d assumed it a transferable skill but no, I’ve given up long ago as it’s just embarrassing.
