9/4/2021: 105.9kg

Down 0.7kg or 1.5lbs this week, happy with that considering my quad tendon is stopping play with any meaningful exercise at the moment.

Anyone had quad/patella tendonosis issues with any advice? Mine’s not been right since partial knee replacement 2.5 years back.

Currently stretching quads, hams and calf’s and doing slant board eccentrics and wall sits. Been trying an easy 30min spin on the turbo occasionally, but not sure if that’s a good thing.

Trying not to over do it on the rehab exercises too though which is hard given its about all I’m doing!

09-04-21 - 115kg
19-03-21 - 113.8kg
12-03-21 - 114.4kg
05-03-21 - 114.3kg
26-02-21 - 115kg
05-02-21 - 112.5kg
22-01-21 - 114.3kg
01-01-21 - 115.4kg

Back down to 115kg after some serious failing to do anything resembling eating/drinking restraint.

Exercising plenty at the minute and back on the good ship common sense so should continue in the right direction again.....

Start 144kg
8/01/21 - 144kg
22/01/21 - 148kg
29/01/21 - 147kg
11/02/21 - 147kg
19/02/21 - 141.5kg
26/02/21 - 146kg
12/03/21 - EEK
19/03/21 - 143.3kg
09/04/21 - 144.5

Not entirely unexpected, I started to eat the wagon I fell off, I will be honest I have been off my game since I had my first vaccine shot, add to that as stupidly busy few weeks in work and time for self care gets pushed, positives......my pedal stroke is showing signs of improvement.

26/3/2021 70.5
2/4/2021 70.9
9/4/2021 70.6

Re-lost most of what I gained but that's been somewhat torturous since I've not really been able to do any exercise with my ankle. I'm finding it harder to stay disciplined when it's all work and no play.

01/01/21: 72.5kg
-------------
26/03/21: 63.5kg (-0.6kg)
02/04/21: 62.6kg (-0.9kg)
09/04/21: 62.0kg (-0.6kg)

Target: 60kg by 12/06/21.
-------------

That's over 10kg since January. Pretty pleased with that, and it's very obvious now too (nothing fits me and I look like I'm dying of a horrible disease because my face loses fat first  ). Had to make my training a bit easier this week, but that's OK, I'm hoping it's only a month before I can increase my calories a bit, which gives me a few weeks of training with a bit more in the tank.

Pretty happy really.

I didn’t bother recording meals and no exercise to speak of so that’s a pleasant surprise.

2.4.21: 82kg
9.2.21: 81.3kg
16.2.21: 79.3kg

A good week with some night shifts at work - I can really capitalise on the night shifts as fasting days 1200 Kcal only.
Always nice to go sub 80kg, feels like real progress.
If you are going through hell, keep going.

17/4/2021: 105.5kg

So only 0.4kg/1lb down, which is fine, but I'm pretty sure it's more, as my legs feel pretty inflamed from a ride last night, and I know there a train in the station

Well done guys, keep it up :-bd

Didn't remember this morning and out at work already - doh!

A decent amount of riding since last weigh-in and mostly behaving well (though I did eat over 400 sausages at a BBQ on Saturday that I think I'm still digesting).

I'll get myself on the scales tomorrow and good efforts everyone!

Probably going to start increasing my calories a touch next week. I'm nearly at target, and some time to spare so I'd rather a bit more fuel for the training.

I've been looking at reverse dieting for getting back up to maintenance Cal's when either I reach goals or decided to have a diet break to restore any metabolic loss.

Some say just go back up to what you think your tdee should be (various calculators) and some have slower or faster calorie builds over several weeks to ensure you find the maintenance level and don't just over shoot and out weight back on.

This is something I should look at. I’m totally rubbish at staying at a weight.
The addict in me and the obsessive/compulsiveness that comes with it means I find moderation hard to achieve.
Over the last ten years or do my weight had swivelled around over 15-20kg.
I diet pretty hard and will openly admit to enjoying the feeling of doing so - I can really see how people with eating disorders can get so wrapped up in the feeling of control associated with dieting.
When I reach my target weight and have done whatever events or challenges I’ve set myself I hit the fu##k-it button - really, really hard and eat like an absolute horse - because eating is enjoyable and I bloody love it.
So, although I like what I get from my weight yoyo-ing around I know it’s the best idea in terms of health. I’ll see if I can put more effort into developing a longer term weight strategy this time.....
If you are going through hell, keep going.

Calculators are utterly, utterly worthless in my opinion (and I have a lot of experience doing this stuff). They should be only ever used right at the start, and then real world results should inform what you're doing. I guess you might be lucky to be one of the 20% that they get good results for though!

I find my body responds much better to just slowly adding calories back in (no more than 100-150kcal a day extra per week) as anything else usually results in a pretty significant weight gain, and leaves me wanting to try losing it again. This can mean you go under your target weight whilst you're trying to work out what your real daily requirements are... but that's generally preferable to the alternative.

Yeh I've had various issues (physical and mental)that have resulted in weight issues over the years and like you, need to have a focus to stay on track, intuitivity and moderation are just not in my nature.

I will definitely need to work on finding out what a realistic maintenance intake will be, and monitor that to take into account activity, otherwise I've no doubt I'd end up back where I started (again) if I take my eye off the ball.

Saying that I've still got another 15kg to go, maybe 20kg to actual racing weight, but that might be a bit much. But I may have a break from cutting for a while on the way down to that.

Current calories (2200-2400) are generally comfortable enough and giving 1-1.5lb loss a week, but I've not been able to exercise much lately due to injury.

Richard, yeh I totally agree. They certainly do not work for me! No calculators seem too. Just mentioned that for others who may not have looked into or considered that and life after cutting down.

As you say adding a certain amount back daily until you stabilise is the way to go.

For me I'm thinking with current (lack) of activity I could look at an eventual of around 3000 a day as maintenance, but only trying it would tell. Obviously if I recover my injuries and get back to some decent riding and hiking that would need to be higher to maintain and also fuel the work.

I'm lucky in that my body hasn't betrayed me of late, so I've been able to keep the activity up.

I can't even begin to imagine what my calorie intake would need to be to lose weight without it. It wouldn't be pleasant.

Well as if my OA wrists and then quad tendon weren't enough, I had a loan of a recumbent last week to try to see how it helped my wrists.

It had spds, I was too lazy to put flats on, my foot slipped with trainers on a spd pedal, and I practically dislocated my big toe with it bending right back. Some impressive swelling and bruising and still difficult walking.

I'm almost tempted to wear my MTB shoes for just walking outside as the stiff soles will stop the painful flexion.

On the good side the tendon has settled a lot. :-bd

Only a single day (I'm sure it'll fluctuate back up again), but I've hit my weight target.

Image

I generally consider it properly achieved once I've got my seven day average to that point (what I usually post here), but that wont happen before next week, possibly not at all as I've already started tapering back up on the calories.

Either way, woo! Now I need to concentrate on getting fit, rather than just skinny!

Excellent well done :-bd

Yeh as you up the cals the weight Will likely raise a bit just due to extra carbs and water on board rather than fat.
