2.4.21: 82kg
9.2.21: 81.3kg
16.2.21: 79.3kg
23.4.21 79.4kg
30.4.21 77.1kg
6.05.21 75.5kg

All good in the hood. Loss has slowed a little as planned. Want to make a gentle landing, so to speak, at my target weight of 72-73kg and see if a bit of moderation can keep me there.
If you are going through hell, keep going.

Wow! Today I am glad to be a larger mammal!

Turns out I qualify as 'at risk' enough to get vaccinated (in France, I know you lot all got jabbed months ago) :-bd

Biking it Italy again just got one step closer.....

Yippee!!!

01/01/21: 72.5kg
-------------
23/04/21: 60.6kg (-0.9kg)
30/04/21: 60.6kg (-0.0kg)
07/05/21: 59.9kg (-0.1kg)
-------------

Target: Original target hit, now maintain between 59 and 61kg until 12/06/21.

Doesn't look like it on the surface of things, but that was a terrible week. Sleep was as bad as it has been (so much for improving it), and in the last couple of days I've been completely wrecked, almost hungover after waking up (not drinking). Not really sure what I can do to improve things. Work / home life stress levels are off the scale.

Can actually see where I've lost muscle this week. Very annoying.

Calorie intake now at 2,050. Will be working hard to stay as close to that as possible (always slightly over rather than slightly under) unless I find my weight changing dramatically.

My eldest had dental surgery this week which means his sleep patterns were all screwed up which never helps with sticking to a diet. At least I lost what gained the previous week.

Pretty sure that lack of loss is inflammation with how I'm feeling, so not worried.

Keep on keeping on. :-bd

Well done me

To be fair, I have had a largely inactive week and really busy sat at my work desk eating toast

Will improve.

Don't worry Dave. You'll catch the weight loss. No more toast obviously ??

Mine is rather unusual too. Was doing well but then yesterday was eid. I was on a 'see-food' diet and today the scales not happy. Hoping to minimise intake today and be back to somewhere amicable in the coming days...

Finding it surprisingly hard to eat clean with the higher calorie intake available to me. Had some really bad days where I've just eaten all sorts of crap / drunk when I shouldn't have.

I'd genuinely rather be back at knowing I couldn't have anything particularly unhealthy!

Funny you mention that Richard. I was thinking if I went to maintenance for a short while, say 3000cals for me, would I eat more clean food, protein etc, or would I just use it as an excuse to eat more junk? Probably.

Even on reduced calories I'll sometimes choose a less good tasty option over a lower calorie more bulky and filling option.

Though I don't worry so much about the junk while I'm actually doing something like a long ride, but it's not a great attitude.

Recently got Feed Zone Portables and The Cycling Chef which have better options than either pricey 'sports nutrition' or mars bar multipacks.

3000 calories. Unless you're like 6ft6 (and I'm not trying to be an expert) surely you could make do with between 2000 and 2500 calories?? Though I must've had about 7 or 8000 calories yesterday, but it was eid :o

I'm loosing weight on 2200-2400 cals and I'm currently limited on exercise due to a range of issues.

6ft, rugby player type build, with size 13 feet.

3000 cals was just an example,.more likely 2800 and see how that went, but again depends on activity level.

People often use 10 X body weight in pounds for a rough lower end of cals for weight loss, so 2260c at my current weight and 14 X body weight as a rough idea for maintenance, so 3172c at current weight. But they're just rough starting points to tweak when you can see if they're high or low for you and your activities.

Fair play Moder eye...

I've just used this against my activity levels and ethincity and states I should aim for about 80kg. 2800-3000 does seem spot on for you then I suppose (rugby player... wouldn't wanna look like a Froome now would we). Keep up the good work :-bd

Now that fasting month is over I'll have to work on being on my best behaviour

Those are great books, but I never seem to have the time to do the recipes!

On the calorie intake discussion... calculations are meaningless other than as a starting point. Just because a male of size X and body composition Y should lose weight on Z calories, doesn't mean they will. That's why it's best to tune over time based on results.

I actively try to avoid it TBH. Not wanting to look like a pro cyclist (at least the climbers!) is why I sabotage my cycling with weight training. I was horrified to read Froome talking about how he was still a bit too muscular at the moment. I mean look at him in the pic ffs!
“I still feel a bit bulky,” he said. “I know I’m carrying a bit of extra muscle mass from all the off-bike work I’ve been doing, all the gym work and everything, but I’ve definitely got some fat to lose as well, so big focus on nutrition going forward now.”

Yeh,me too. Life is much more than cycling and it's not at all healthy at that extreme, but if you want to be a pro cyclist that's what you've got to do.

Don't know how many have watched Nike's Big Bet on sky documentaries, but Salazar is obsessed with leanness and low weight, but as a distance runner that's where obvious gains are. If you're not as last get as possible you're missing out. But not drinking and carrying water in the comrades to stay light is a bit bonkers, you'll certainly be lighter at the end of the race though as they insert the IV

My best friend is a clone of Chris Froome in height and weight, ie 6’1 and 68 kg or so.

Yet another 70kg week. The last couple of kg are proving stubborn but it’s tough without any real exercise. Going to give the ankle another couple of weeks off before trying to jump on the bike.

Not that anyone is paying attention, but I wont be posting next Friday as I'll be on an anniversary trip.

I'm also planning on not sparing the hedonism horses, so I'll probably weigh a solid 3kg more by the time I next weigh myself!

(Half tempted to take the scales so I can see the effect each day!)

Hope so, but to be honest it's easy to get a bit obsessive about it. I really don't want to pick the healthier options when I'm trying to have a proper break for a few days, but I often will because I know how much effort it is to get the weight off.

Not hard to see how people end up with eating disorders.

Had a week off at around maintenance cals as been feeling rough and tired. Did a longer tougher ride for my knee last Sunday (80k, 1600m) which led to a few days of resting it due to inflammation and tightness.

Also had a long over due celebratory curry with two partners on a big project we've been working on last night, so the train's still in the station awaiting departure

I managed to do more walking this week, had my second jab and generally ate well while staying off the chocolate. I didn't really track food this week, just went on feel and it seemed to work.
