take it easy, look after your self. Eat heartily & healthily. get lots of rest. try and enjoy what easy exercise you can get and an easy to suit your recovery. weight does it matter I think waist measure me more, if you get fitter and more muscular, your waist can decrease but weight increase.
But most importantly look after head. mental health - mood and emotions try & stay positive. Don't crack or pack up on us. :wink:

This is what I've done.

I've had to let go of things for a bit as currently enjoying a multi-whammy of nasty family health crap, personal health crap, work stress and feeling about as low as I've ever felt.

Ridden so little and some free time is opening up just as the weather is going to sh1t :cry:

[edit: oh, and still not 100% over my covid fun from August - happy days! :???: ]

Back on it today :-bd

Got a prescription for naproxen yesterday and woke up pain free for the first time in ages. Knees, wrists and elbow happy :grin:

An hour zwift, a 15min swim in the sea and sensible eating so far. Feeling much more positive.

Not weighed in, probably do that Monday and then Fridays.

Welcome back Moder-Dye. Gairy, Richard - just have break from thinking about it for a bit, then come back to it if you feel like it,

I've found myself too focussed on work lately and stresses around the job and home just like others say. After being at home for the lockdowns, going back to work and living out of suitcases and hotels hit me quite hard and pretty much and healthy living vanished.

I've had the realisation that its been months since I looked after myself in any reasonable way, but I think I am in a better position for the last part of the year to do so.

I've had some really good rides lately after a bit of a disaster at the bb200 and am going to re-instate my ride every day, even if just a bit plan that worked so well for me.

I've put a bit back on, pretty sure of that. But as before I will do Friday weigh in so I will assess the damage in the morning....

Well I said I was back and would weigh in Fridays so here I am.

My re-Start was last Friday at 101kg (very annoyed to go back over the 100)

Today 100.4kg

So, good start in the right direction.

My new target is 95kg by clocks change at the end of March. Seems realistic.

Wish me luck.

Well done FLV :-bd

Wish I could report a weigh in, but I haven't. Things are just too stressful here just now with trying to sort a move and find a rental down to Angus for me to want to add another stress. But I am trying to be sensible and getting some Z2/tempo Zwifting in to try to build back up cycling wise.

Morning all.

re-start 101kg
3rd Dec 100.4kg
10th Dec 100kg on the nose

Really pleased to have gone the right way two weeks in a row. I can almost taste sub 100 (it doesn't taste like pie..)

This helps to motivate as I admit to finding it a bit of a challenge to get out regularly currently. Mainly I think as for some reason this year I am feeling the cold more than I think i have before. I was out for less than 2 hours last night, its was chucking down and the rain made it through my Goretex jacket in short order so even though I had my trusty primaloft vest on and thickest winter bibs, I still got wet and still got cold. Takes me ages to warm up after too.
Maybe its just getting older, but I'm only 44 years young.

Well done FLV.

For weather like that I use zwift :o call me a wuss, but I've spend enough time in the cold, wet and wind that I'm happy not too if there's an alternative :lol:

Just starting the great house pack for a move the weekend before Xmas, so I'm thinking my next phase I'd going to be the predictable New Year push.

Thanks,

I do on occasion use zwift. But I just need to be outside sometimes. Its been raining solidly for days and there was supposed to be a gap, but there was not...

Wow what a year for my self.started off really well in Jan 21.with the best and most riding I've ever done in 2020 most of it out side 😁😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 . Had been on a salad 🥗 a day apart from Sundays 😁 for about 14 months .so my weigh in would of been 11.5 stone in Jan. I was riding 4/7 days a week so I thought it would be like that in 2021. So I was planning to do my first bike packing trip many be the WRT or a 1 nighter local.but by February 21. Every thing had fallen to bits. Because I need a operation . couldn't do any riding for 12 weeks . couldn't even take dog for a walk.so I gained weight . couldn't drive for 4 months. Any way sorry for the doom and gloom 😜 the rest of the year wasn't much better now December. will be starting a fresh In Jan 22 and it's going to be the best year ever for riding a meeting new friends and going on my first bike packing journey WRT happy days 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🚴

Hi Trevor, When you've had to recover,post op, a ennforced sedentary life style, make weight gain too easy and loosing it is a lot harder. I know. I
it the exercise becomes part of your life style and a social thing (rather than a chore) . it's so much easier to keep motivated
hope next years Is a lot better. and you nail the WRT.. :-bd

Final weigh in for the year: 71.5

5kg down on the year and only a gradual (0.8?) kg gain in the last 3 months largely due to inactivity. My grand plan to eat healthily and exercise this year mostly failed - alcohol consumption has gone up but less beer, chocolate consumption has been fairly steady but too high and exercise was drastically up on '20 but still way below pre-covid levels. I've not been on a bike in 3 months since a 4 day tour in September which is a little depressing but hopefully time will start to free up in the new year.

A bit slow progress and I cant see that changing with the amount of cheese in the house!

My year ever so slightly got away from me.

Culminating in a joyous cacophony of incredible hangover and lovely, lovely self-loathing today - yay!

Covid failed to ruin the street Christmas Day celebrations with 3 families (and extended visitors) getting together (after a lot of dodging the virus, taking many, many tests and last minute scares) but holy crapola am I paying the price today! :???:

So.....onwards and upwards.

Gonna completely kick booze into touch for a bit as that's the main culprit in me consuming many excess calories (as well as massively contributing to lots of the other elements of healthiness that I need to address).

If nobody starts a 'Fat Fighters '22' thread as we approach new year then I will and I'll see you all there.....

[edit: just started a new thread]

Wow!

Just crunched some numbers.

Ouchy! I need to get a grip - look at my past 'success' :lol:

2017
Start = 110kg
Finish = 109kg

2018
Start = 111kg
Finish = 113kg

2019
Start = 115.9kg
Finish = ???

2020
Start = 118kg
Finish = 113kg

2021
Start - 115.4kg
Finish - +125kg (not good, not good at all).
