Still to go: 11.6kg
definately a declining trend :-bd , well done. keep it up, but still declining down.. (Gawd this is getting like a Reg post  )
People frequently accuse me of being in decline. In this case I'm very happy to take it as a positive! Thanks for the encouragement. All power to your own home-grown veg elbow - and to everyone else working on this here too.

So I've ended up with COVID-19 again. Will be feeding myself a decent amount before getting back to things.

Crap - feel better dude!

After a week in the UK I have returned knackered, poor and the new heaviest I've ever been - yay! Go me!

I'm allowing myself today and tomorrow to finish off a few tasty bits and pieces (mostly bacon and beer) from the UK and then it's straight into another period of stricter policing of what I'm allowed to eat and drink (it really is physically, emotionally and mentally exhausting battling oneself for years on end without really gaining any ground at all).

Onwards and sveltwards.....

Oh no bummer Richard  hope you get better soon.

I'm still screwed with the after effects of my super cold. Managed a few sea swims/dooks, but no-use for cycling or walking of any note. Just tried the bike out side an hour ago and my throat and chest are so tight and then coughing afterwards after a mighty 8km ride

Good luck getting back on it Gairym.

Got things mostly stabilised this week. No drinking, some light exercise and getting a reasonable amount of sleep.

Encouraging as I've not exactly been being "careful" with my diet, so taking off an extra kg before the end of the year shouldn't be particularly arduous.

Haven't been able to train because my lungs are absolutely shot this week for some reason. I felt almost completely recovered on Sunday but things have rapidly gone downhill since.

Really getting to me now, have drunk way more than I should have this week as a result. Worked so hard to get back into shape / fitness after my injury / COVID last time and to lose all that progress again is just... f*ck *ff.

 Hello, my name is Kevin and I need to get a grip

Physical ailments and life stresses are still dominating here and a whistle stop tour of Angus looking for a rental house this weekend hasn't helped. No excuse really I know for what I eat, but really I'm struggling to get my head to it with tiredness and a head up my jacksey.

One positive thing is that Lachlan Morton's Alt Tour video sparked a eureka moment for me with his lose cleat issue and solution. When I had my partial knee replacement 3 years ago the surgeon realigned my wonky lower leg, what I didn't do was think to realign my cleat. To be fair my surgeon had also been ex team sky team doctor and never mentioned I should either

3 years of struggling with soft tissue issues after rides that I put down to just the fact that my bionic knee just wasn't made for long distance cycling and I decided to try flat pedals. My foot angle has noticeably changed and it seems fine so far on the turbo. I might even mange to get out on the road of the weather can behave sometime I'm free to ride!

Anyway, all this to say I'm still here, and the story's the same; I need to get a grip stop eating crap again.

I swapped to flats after ruining my knee a few times.

I've since done some seriously hard events on flats, and have never looked back.

I used to use Time Atac pedals (bags of float & easy release) , they have been put on the road bike, I now use flatties off road, with firm soled boots or grippy trainers off road or local errands. It's spd clogs for the road, at least I clip-clop rather than skid it them (unlike proper roadie - shooz) :-bd

Yeh my 5.10 Kestrel's seem ok on the flats with the cleats removed and atleast give some foot support over trail shoes that I'd normally wear with flats.

I will note that most shoes that have cleat inserts tend to be awful compared to pure flats... in terms of grip anyway.

I assume because they use a harder rubber compound than non cleat compatible versions.

Yeh, but the 5.10 kestrels are pretty soft grippy rubber with their 'stealth' rubber soles as well as being stiff. My other MTB SPD's (Exustar) aren't hard like many MTB SPD's I've seen either, which are just hard solid plastic really.

Whenever I get some new shoes I'll just get the flat version of the Kestrel's (if i can find an offer!) as they fit me well and have been great for HAB too.

Haven't weighed in for a couple of weeks now. As I guess a few others here might have had experience of, I've had a bit of a mental health dip lately for various reasons.

On the mend now mentally, having done lots of work over the years on ways to bring myself back to happiness. Despite having a fierce cold which is affecting exercise and food intake, I'm hoping to get back on the scales this weekend and deal with the fallout of having to start my journey all over again.

It's worth sharing that I do really appreciate this space on the forum.

Decided bollocks to it and weighed myself anyway after posting this morning. Wasn't as bad as I thought somehow.

18/09/21 95.3kg
25/09/21 93.4kg
02/10/21 93.1kg
09/10/21 93.6kg
19/10/21 92.6kg
19/11/21 92.9kg

That a good downward trend, is the second measurement after putting your spec on?

Think I might bow out of this for a while.

Still can't train due to COVID19 related damage and I think I'll start getting obsessive about the weight gain... which really isn't going to help a mental state that's already pretty fragile because of all the fitness loss.
