Any Exposure deals going...

Criteria being:

Cheaper the better (obviously).

Mainly for road riding (commuting) but something that doubled up for mtb would be a bonus.

Not overly maaaasive like a sixPack (overkill for road anyway and more mtb isn't it) but long battery life is better please.

Not a Joystick or whatNot (I need much much more lumens than that to keep me happy as I don't use a helmet light... when mtbing).

Thanks in advance and hope I've not asked too much. Dont wanna end up spending £300 then realise there was a £250 option of much the same thing but older model...

I'd say that road and MTB requirements are sufficiently different to justify two lights.

For road, something with a correctly shaped beam is better for the rider AND incoming drivers/riders.

(Might be trickier to get, after midnight)

Any exposure light of your choice, for MTB

Thanks Bob... Been doing some reading and seems I might get away with a Toro. Which is mtb orientated but the beam pattern in low setting seems conducive to roady-ing... :???:

I wouldn't dismiss a Joystick out of hand Shaf. I'll often use mine as a sole light off-road and mine's an older model with less output. It's not simply about lumens, it's about how they're used.

Diablo for £196 Shaf https://sdjsports.com/collections/cycli ... bike-light

Or the latest Joystick for £138 inc helmet and bar mount. https://sdjsports.com/collections/cycli ... bike-light

I’ve had a similar dilemma on wanting to cover on and off road riding (using two different bikes which counted against the dynamo option)

I now have a Strada SB and for off road will team that up with a helmet light. Based on this thread viewtopic.php?f=7&t=15339&p=191049#p191049

Personally if iwas going MTB with only onelight it would be on my helmet as I quite like being able to see where i am going rather than where the bars are pointing [switchbacks for example

I would be happy to use just a Joystick personally and the £45 MTB battery extension adds x4 to the run times

The only road beam pattern lights I know are Dynamo ones but the germans/Dutch are big fans of them so I would start looking there

Sigma have a sale on some exposure lights just now.
This is where evans cycles is now missed as they used to always have some deals on old exposure models at this time of year.
Torro or strada should do the trick.
I have used my Diablo for commuting a lot in the past. Now use a revo
The Diablo is great but I fond the mount moves around a fair bit on the bar. Need to see if there is a better one available.

The rubber band mount on the diablo is rubbish. Use the normal exposure mount, there's an adaptor you can get to mount a diablo or joystick

Cheers Stu, just ordered myself a Joystick I was toying with getting one or another MTB batteries light. This wee discount swung it. :-bd

Thanks for this Stu. Think I'm gonna hold out for a Toro or Strada. Hopefully this coming week I'll have enough dosh... Mount if the Toro/Strada etc swings it for me as I like that little interface and it'll work well on my stem plate.

I have a Toro that I mostly bought for off road use but I have used it on the road occasionally (pointed downwards to help limit the blinding oncoming drivers issue). It's really good imho, the reflex function is tremendous off road and it's not too bulky like some of the bigger Exposure lights. In an ideal world I'd buy a Strada as well for road use (which will probably happen eventually).

Thanks folks. After some confidence-inspiring comments from the above, I've gone and got myself this beauty...

https://winstanleysbikes.co.uk/exposure ... ront-light

Almost £50 off and for preorder. Used the good old paypal credit which I'll aim to pay off by next week as I might still have been about £100 short this coming week. 2000lumen in standard high mode and 3000 in reflex :o  best behave myself and not point it at car drivers giving me a punishment-pass...
