Interesting? Luggage content.

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

I'm not sure whether I'd like to use one off-road as I'm assuming there could be quite a bit of bounce but it's nice to see a new idea in an area where new ideas are becoming scarce. https://bikepacking.com/news/rocky-moun ... Sx1U3ZvCLM

Thought Jase had adapted his Deliveroo bag at first.

There seems to be a distinct lack of cables in that photo?
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Uhm, so there is Peter. However, there are a couple of brake cables - I can only assume it's SS?

Yep, reckon so. Armoured cables and canti brakes, presumably set up wacky-handed being 'over the water'

Looks cool and Rando bags are really handy, but there seems to be a lot of potential for rubbing off pain.

I'm also happy someone corrected him about "toad in the hole".

As you would say there's not much new - had similar on me r0ad bikes 40 years ago. Slightly smaller 'cells' and mounted on a U-shaped metal bracket twisted round the stem/bars in a very convoluted way. Still got it in the shed I think.

I like that. I sent Alpkit some sketches and photos of a (cardboard mock up of) tensioned, self-supporting bag like that while talking frame bags generally. Basically a rando box that didn't need a rack and used rear pockets to centre the weight a bit better. Wasn't intended to work off-road when it got too lumpy but I'd like to try the ideas out for road and gravel riding.

The bag rubbing, against the front tyre, acts as a brake
