USE Tracer Alternative

Post by Dave Barter »

I really like the small form factor and brightness of my USE Tracer light but it has died due to water ingress. I pulled it to pieces and was amazed it lasted this long. If the rubber ring protecting the charge port gets slightly displaced you are stuffed. So not sure I'm going to spend that much again. Any recommendations for something of similar size but more water friendly.

Not sure if this helps or not, but my LBS have just submitted a warranty claim to Exposure for the same issue with the same light.

I've no receipt, and bought it before we moved house so didn't even buy it from my (now) LBS, but they expect a positive response from Exposure....

I am giving that a go as well but I feel the design is flawed so a fixed light will not stay fixed for too long

Cost me £18 to get mine fixed by exposure. Well worth it.

Just be sure to seat that rubber ring really well and it should be fine.

And consider moving it off the seat post or use mudguards?

Love my tracer, mine lives in the right hand drop in place of a plug, a highly recommended place as it gives additional width. All my electronics get a dose of silicone spray aimed at any open ports. The rubber port cover is a faff, mine is about to die via the little rubber nub coming off.

I woke up this morning but I’m still in the dark

Yes the rubber ring is a royal PIA on the trace / r. It can get slightly displaced making switching the things on or off nigh on impossible. Not had water ingress yet but I wish they could just have a button like on the joystick et al and a rubber bung for the usb port.....

Apart from that they are great!
