Hello,
Anybody have any experience on the above? I have always had Shim until I got the Camino and have loved the Sram 1x11 on it. I am wondering how they compare.
This drive train is to replace the 2x10 11-42 22/36 on the Vir Fortis 29 & 26+ so I would guess it will be with a 36t oval AB ring for normal riding and a 30-32 for BB/YD type events.
Cheers

yes, had both .
sram 1 x 12 came on my ecr. it felt very flimsy to me. kind of like if i changed the gear too quickly it would break.
shimano xt 1 x 12 came on a trek xcaliber i bought last november. i sold the bike last month. i used the bike all the way through the winter and right up until september. it never missed a beat. it was quicker at shifting and felt solid.
the ecr has now been converted back to 3 x 9.

I’ve tried the SRAM, but after riding with Shimano for years just couldn’t get used to it, different shifters just felt odd.
Nothing wrong with it in terms of performance, I just didn’t like the feel of it
New bike spec’d with Shimano 12 and I’m liking it a lot

Re: Sram 1x12 v Simano 1x12
I think I had 1x11 on the Camino. Apex maybe?
Double-tap was fine, I think I preferred it to the separate levers of Shimano (have also run really old 105 on something 9 speed).
Much like a lot of SRAM (IMO/E) it feels a bit more clunky / mechanical / agricultural (unkind exaggeration ;-) ). Was fine though and wouldn't' be put off it (and wasn't as next gravelwanger came with SRAM).

Re: Sram 1x12 v Simano 1x12
I'm thinking sram as I will need to change the free hub for both, but the SD driver freehub is used by sram's 1x11, 1x12 and 1x13. I do have a spare sram apex 1x11 drive train so All I would need it the free hub and flat bar shifter. And then I can jump to 1x12 or 1x13 next time it's all worn out. The Shimano 1x12 microspline freehub is only 1x12 compatible.
Re: Sram 1x12 v Simano 1x12
From what I read, Shimano 1x12 is easier to set up and stay ls set up longer. But that's just what I read somewhere.
I tried SRAM when 11 speed just started but preferred shimano as it seemed more reliable.
Shimano are makeing a lot of noise about compatibility, particularly chainrings, though there are already alternatives available. I guess this will continue to grow.
I'd probably go Shimano personally, just as in the past, they have seemed more reliable for me
