I wondered how long it would be before someone asked that. I'm already planning a visit either after work today on a run or ride home that way tomorrow on the commute.

As to the aliens, probably, it's quite a popular holiday destination and it's cheaper to fly here from outside the galaxy than bring a car over on the ferry :lol:

<tries to avoid making inappropriate comments about the locals being aliens given they're somewhat removed from humanity>

<fails>

<knows it's all done in the best possible taste>

:lol: I had to restrain myself from making such jokes, especially as it's on a beach out 'west' where the locals have 6 fingers on one hand and webbed feet :grin:

It crossed my mind that given the year we are having it would put the tin lid on it if aliens turned up, enslaved us all and mined earth to dust for its mineral resources. Looks like it might be happening, hey ho. Or have I been sat in my house alone for too long?

Some pictures today show the tide has washed the beach away around it and you can see the 2x4 timbers driven into the sand which support it so I'm going to say it's a bit low tech for our alien overlords :lol:

That's racist making assumptions about other cultures. I'm reporting this post to Lawrence Fox.

Given our monolith seems to be considerably more shoddily constructed than the others around the world maybe the Government put it up?

Did I miss the "We're going to have a world beating monolith" announcement from No. 10? :lol:

Maybe the aliens just had the (reconditioned) one left in their spares box, but there were some shizzle bolts missing from the fitting kit, hence you got some pieces of 4x2 and something a bit less shiney than the Utah one!

All of us who were on last year's winter bivi have to put one up, once all five are finished a beam of light will bounce between them forming a pentagram and anyone who's valves aren't lined up with the logos on their tyres will spontaneously combust :lol:
