I used to get my Merino tee shirt base layers from Planet X / On One.

They were good, affordable and no itchy. But they don't do them any more

Aldi ones I've found to be itchy.

So who makes "good, affordable and no itchy" merino tee shirts please?

Also what other alternatives such as bamboo etc are also "good, affordable and no itchy"

Helly Hensen are my go to. Dear normally but sport pursuit often have them at near half price.

Had Helly Hansen and still have them but I prefer merino as a base layer

Usually Icebreaker or Devold for me, the Crane stuff from Aldi is pretty good too.

Ah Just seen that HH no longer do merino tees, only long sleeved

I've used the DHB ones for years and they've lasted well. They're warm, non-itchy and have been washed a thousand times.

Decathlon. Think they're in the Forclaz range. Available with whimsy travel adventure slogans too but they're subtle. Really good for the money - used one for a week straight in S France with just a few rinses in rivers or fountains.

A few rinses in a week? That seems pretty excessive washing for merino.
I went two weeks wearing a merino t baselayer full time day and night, only came off for showering. No problem, still odour free after the two weeks.
Think it was a Decathlon one too, ten years ago though so they'll be different now.

Current 'go to' merino stuff is Isobaa on Sport Pursuit.

I’m slightly obsessed with merino clothing and only wear merino t shirts every day now (I don’t have an office job!). The only brand that really strikes the balance between affordability and durability for me is:

Their t shirts are 200gsm (most other brands are thinner and can be practically transparent) and the cut is good with a proper neck and sleeves that fit my 50 yr old body.

My only gripe is a prominent logo, but you can’t have everything.

Because I could, not because I really needed to : ) But salt crustiness gets uncomfortable after a few days - it was warm there and I had it on as only layer or under a flappy shirt when it cooled down. Still, didn't stink.

Seconded, I have worn lycra jersey/armwarmers and this vest for winter road riding and remained comfortable down to freezing, also worn with long sleeve 150 Icebreaker for winter hillwalking.

I can also confirm it does look awful.
