PS> I think JC has already alluded to this, but I reckon if everyone who's entering the V(WE) paid, say, £10 "entry fee" direct to the charities as well we'd really be cooking.... .

However both TheWallich and Shelter have their own direct donations pages which are just as easy to use and have nothing creamed off, so I'd suggest we just give people those links? Also, while people are on their pages they can read up about what the charities do.

And here they are:

The Wallich: https://thewallich.com/donate/one-off-donation/ - just one click and there's a tickbox for Gift Aid

Shelter: https://england.shelter.org.uk/donate - also just one click with Gift Aid.
...
That's great Reg and achieves pretty much what I was thinking of when blathering on about Just Giving :-bd

Just some personal discipline to make sure brief blurb and those links are on pretty much every post about Stu's ride across whatever media (he said whilst attempting to also teach his mother to suck eggs  ).

Keep up the good work :-bd  :-bd

PPS> If we really wanted a webpage specifically for Stu's Nightmare, with the charity links, maybe some expert could knock one up... .but this thread is probably doing the job just as well?

Ask Stu to put something up on BB much like he does for the other events?

You probably also want a page in itself as it is a static thing that can hold the key data, rather than the ever-rambling, swirling, nonsense that forum threads often are (you should know ), and particularly where they are discussions and become multi-page epics (again, you should know ).

Thanks Monkey - all suggestions gratefully received. It's true that a simple URL might make it easier for "off-comed-'uns" to get involved. Maybe it would just point to the first post in this thread, and JC (or me) could mod that to just have one or two simple paragraphs about what we're inflicting on Stu and how to donate?

Just a little bump for this post as it's dropped down loads of pages on here....
Just like the bargain and photo thread..
Come on people find bargains and share photos please

Anyway just to let you all know around this time tomorrow Christmas Eve Reg and I will be posting up Stuart's Grid Refs.

Do I put them on page 1 and here on this thread

Or do I start a new thread, and if so what should we call it?

Twenty's plenty

Time to even the score

Stuart's suffering

Charity begins at Bear Bones Towers

What's your suggestion please?

I think Stu might in fact rather like the chosen GRs. There's the odd, er, outlier in there but many of them are superb situations. One or two 'classics' that we all know and love, some that give a different aspect to a popular location, a few hidden peaceful corners too. Perhaps surprisingly they're not all at the top of nasty climbs either.

I'm a bit jealous actually and the 'revenge' may turn out to be a 'reverse revenge' if we're not careful  .

Shut up legs has offered up a bonus £10 if Stuart gets a selfie with a sign towards 'Happy Valley' on the way past? He doesn't need to go there itself, just a sign towards it would do.

In one of those delicious BBB happenstances, the fact that JC's GR #1 and my GR #6 are within 200 yards of each other was entirely coincidental. Laughed out loud when we compared notes  .

Anyway, reckon you'll have a cracking ride Stu :-bd .

Anyone here clever enough (or got the time!) to plot the grid refs on an online map and publish it here?

Secondly, when do we send the funds over?

It's not my bat or ball but I'd say not until I've reached your GR - I can't get my head round sponsorship where people pay up before.

thanks Voodoo - remember the 'funding' is self-drive too. And GR dependant as Stu says. The donations links are given a couple of times earlier in the thread but will post them here again later when I get home...

oh and the twin GR#4s - you choose Stu but reference the discussion between Bob and meself a while ago. You'll see why there's two when you plot them  .

Simon, use this http://gridreferencefinder.com/, copy the GRs in (you'll have to remove the extra text around them) and then just follow the steps. The "main map" bit doesn't work for me but the OSM link does. Doesn't produce a link you can copy and paste unfortunately.

I'd love to see that too if anyone has the inclination (yes, I'm being massively lazy!).
