Replacement Derailleur Hangers

Post by Boab »

Fixed a puncture while out on a ride yesterday, but while getting my stuff together afterwards, the wind blew my bike over and it landed on the rear derailleur. I spent the last 10km home, with the chain skipping all over the place and upon inspection, it looks like there are some small crease marks across the hanger. I'd been planning on buying a replacement anyway, but never quite got round to it, as the only place I've ever seen with them in stock is Bike24; obviously they are now out of stock.

Google has turned up nothing, other than a couple of places in North America, that are also out of stock. I also can't find anything similar on Derailleur Hanger Store. I'm sure there's a similar place in Europe, that I bought a replacement hanger for my old Scott tri bike years ago, but I can't remember what they're called. Does anyone know of anywhere that stocks something similar to this...?

It's for a NS Bikes RAG+2018 - 2019 model. The hanger for a Rondo RUUT looks similar, but I canny find one of those either...

I have found this one, which looks vaguely similar. The description does say Rag (Some Frames) too...

I found a tricky replacement recently at BETD. You send them a photo and they will match it. Costs about £20 posted.

Buy three.
One to fit
One for your backpack
One for stock

F'ing typical... NS Bikes have them back in stock, but aren't shipping to the UK. Thanks you 🤬 Tory 🤬! So I've gone for that one I shared above, twenty five 🤬 quid...

So... the saga continues. The replacement has turned up, and looks vaguely similar:

After a bit of wiggling, it fits in the frame. The supplied bolt is too short and the countersunk head too large, thankfully the existing bolt fits fine:

However, the thru-axle wont fit, gets about half a turn in, then jams:

Getting royally fecked off at this point...

The thread is the wrong pitch. There's at least 3 rear axle pitches that I know of.

Oh FFS! Tried to order two hangers from a LBS just before Easter weekend, sort of forgot to chase them until Wednesday. Chased them again this morning and they managed to get through to Hotlines and then then back to me. Guess what? They're now out of 🤬 stock again...

I'd just sent the one with the wrong thread pitch back too... At this rate, I'd be better off just buying a new bike.

If I didn't have to actually do some work today I'd just finish it in a oner, but it's going to be five, ten minutes here and there between meetings...

That had one that fits the bike, but the thread pitch is wrong, so I'd have needed a new thru-axle... 🤷
