Certainly beats the bloke (John Merrill) who walked round a few decades ago and wrote a book about it. To be fair he did it in one go. I read it and it was possibly the most boring travel book I'd ever ploughed through, mainly because he was counting the days/hours/minutes. Lots of "I turned left, I turned right" but no stories, people, fun. Each to their own I guess.

Great photos, walking does give the time and opportunity to really capture the sense of a place, but I'm not sure I could go on a really long walk over weeks now I've been spoilt by the speed a bike allows to travel.

If you want a good book about traveling around the coast I enjoyed Long Standing Ambition by Jono Dunnett. He did it on a windsurfer, unsupported (except of the kindness of locals) and carried his kit in a blue plastic barrel on the back of the board. He even slept under the sail on the beach at times using it as tarp. I think of him as an aquatic bike tramp

I'll have a look for that ta Sean. Aquatic Bike Tramp! I don't remember that one coming up in careers advice at school. Life might have been very different if it had.
