Downtube bag for tools

Post by ChrisS »

I'm looking for a bag like this from Bedrock:
https://www.bedrockbags.com/gear/sinbad-stash-pack

It's to carry tools on the downtube (inside the triangle, rather than underneath).

The Bedrock bag seems quite reasonably priced, but postage from US + import charges pushes it up way too much.

Anyone know of a similar bag made in the UK or EU?

Try Beerbabe - she makes bags out of old innertubes.

Alternatively just use a top tube bag inside the triangle.

I have one of these which I've used on various bikes (it's currently a full time component on my gravel bike). I've also used a top tube bag/gas tank as suggested by Whitestone above. Both work fine.

Wolftooth B RAD bag and BRAD mini bag.
Can be bought with or without the bottle cage plate.

Just about exactly the same as that above. I have the mini. Fits tube (small light one), inflator, multi tool, levers and a outdoor provisions bar.

Beerbabe looks good, thanks - I see she'll make custom too. Hadn't thought about putting a top tube bag in the frame!

Both good options, thanks.

Wolftooth stuff looks great, that looks about the right size too. Do you use is it with the bottle cage plate?

I thought the Wolftooth was silly at £35 on that Merlin link.

But that Apidura at £52?

Menthal

Nope. I use it on its own. Usually underneath the top tube with the roll top passed around the headtube or as a seatpack

How about a nice Acepac tool roll? Very reasonable they are. Or one of those tool bottle case things.

I was going to offer you a Zefal Tool Bottle free plus postage but they are so cheap I probably couldn't post it for that.

Do you know, I'd not noticed that in the Bear Bones shop before, that might do the trick. Nice top tube bags too :-bd

Thanks Mariner! I do have a couple of kegs - a Zefal which is great for day rides but too big when I'm using a frame bag, and a much smaller one which fits under the frame bag, but isn't quite big enough to get everything in :geek:
