OT: Cape Wrath Trail

Anyone on here done this and could give me an idea how far along a strong walker could get in 7 days.

I believe Shewie's done it. Might be worth PMing him if he doesn't spot this thread.

Friends of mine did it a few years ago and took 11 days IIRC. They had a rest day in Ullapool, so 10 days walking?

See I am wondering if I can make Ullapool. But I am limited to 7 days

Are you not allowed to cycle it then?

I fancy a big walk. It's not really the greatest cycling experience I gather

Correction - 12 days walking. Just dug out some old photos. They did add some some alternative bits, so not quite the official trail.

Have you thought about going north from Ullapool? It'll probably make logistics more difficult, but it's absolutely stunning.

I’ll do that next trip. As you say it is a logistical nightmare

I think there is a daily bus service to Durness from Inverness via Ullapool - what used to be the bike bus but now without the bike trailer. Getting from Ullapool back to Fort William will be trickier than to Inverness so if you do Ullapool to Durness you can effectively start and finish at Inverness. Check the range times for Cape Wrath before setting out. Oh and I know of someone who in there words were "driven back by the midges" on the Cape Wrath section!

There is also a big military exercise the week I am up there. Plan is Ullapool, Inverness, Edinburgh, flight home.
