Sense check - Front mech cable routing
Just replaced the cable for the front mech on my Fargo as it had frayed (I’ll come to this) Now when I got the frame and built it up I asked the same question about cable routing, I took the suggestions on board and routed it as suggested (pic 1 below) however that led to the cable rubbing on the chain and eventually fraying. This way is the natural way the cable wants to go but there’s not enough clearance to prevent rubbing (picture with new cable as took the old one off before I thought to take a pic)
So what I’ve done is crimp the cable so it turns back up away from the chain, but as you can see it’s buggered up the cable.
I can’t see a suitable way for the cable to run without it fouling on the chain. Am I missing something obvious?

Feed the cable right round the arm and catch it in the the wee notch that is just above the cable ferule in your first pic.

I went for a Jaffa cake colour scheme
Re: Sense check - Front mech cable routing
Wrap the inner around the anchor bolt fully, so it comes out pointing upwards and to the rear (edit, of the bike - outer-rear of the mech, if that makes sense), closer to parallel to the entry direction than what you have now. I have a similar down-swing top-pull FD on my bike, cable attached that way (you can also cut off that redundant down-pull cable arm that juts out the NDS and catches all the grassy clag).

Yup - the cable should sit snug around the arm and be well clear of the chain
