Yes... I agree. They can easily be joined together on the short Lingendale trail section. Plus it helps drop that bit out. Both travel anti clockwise too. Might need to get permission from Fitz though (out of courtesy).

Ditto. Dorset is in the south with a Tory fuckwit MP so we'll be in tier 1 for a while no doubt, but traipsing around the country for my own riding amusement now looks unlikely seen as it will probably be 10 days before my window of opportunity with work and family opens briefly.

Two laps of the Dorset Gravel Dash might be my local alternative.

Stopped for a pint at the pub in Llanygidr (sp?) with Trepid Explorer and filled up there too.

It was The Red Lion. Seemed pleasant enough and was very welcoming to a couple of properly filthy bikepackers. The two coffees and pint of bitter I had in there definitely kept my spirits up for getting over The Gap.

Oh yes, I know, they hosted a cycling event last year, to climb Llangynidr Mountain as many times as possible in a day, was great fun.

I'm oot. Knee injury from the Cairngorms loop is recovering but still a ways to go and given that there is a fair bit of climbing on this thing I'm playing the sensible wimp card. Add to that the hassles of the journey down (I'm not keen on using service stations to go to the loo and don't know enough quiet bits of woodland on my route down) and the chances of it all going pear shaped this weekend and it all seems like too much. No more opportunities this year so mebbes have a bash next April for Highland Trail practice.

Well done to all finishers so far, hopefully a few more get it this weekend before apocalypse part 2 kicks off.

With 2 weeks left of my furlough until my new job starts on November 1st I've planned my own Tier 3 Zone (with 1 gravel route around Ormskirk which is slightly into the neighbouring Tier 2 area (which travel is only advisory not to do it - plus it will be tier 3 in a week or two anyway )



Unfortunately Merseyside is not blessed with many hills and the climbing with be a tiny 771m over the 205km route.
It's 80% off road using cycle paths, old railway lines and prom's plus the road sections being quiet too.
I'll be taking a bivi for my BAM too.
One bit of the trail is used twice, as an out and back to make the distance

Ah boo, sorry to hear that. Then again, this year (the tough route and the conditions) have lead to some great stories and ponderings from people which have made fascinating reading. I am NOT taking pleasure in other's failure

Are riders setting out this weekend? I'm hoping to set off from Fforest Inn an Saturday morning. It looks like we might have just dropped lucky with the weather albeit the ground won't have dried very much. I'm not fast etc and not far off getting a bus-pass so don't expect me to overtake anyone

I've got a logger on but won't put details on here as I think Stu is keeping the track details off the WWW at least until the end of October.

I'd say your style of riding at a steady pace will suit this route - not blasting out of the traps, keeping stopped time to a minimum etc.
