Tent repair tape or patches

Our family tent has a few knicks and small rips in the fly. What would be the recommended repair material? Tape? Glue on patches? Other?

Tufftape is really good for sheets, waterproofs and mattresses. Park innertube patches also work on small nicks. There's another option to Tufftape that's equally good, looks pretty much the same, I've used it but forget the name.

Spinnaker repair tape?
Not used it on tents but works well on clothes like pertex, etc, and air mats with a layer of seamgrip smeared over it to seal it.

That's the stuff. Fixes small holes in mattresses well and has stayed on a ripped WP jacket for a couple of years now.

I have used duct tape on my "festival" tent which is showing signs of age and use
Works fine and is cheap - aesthetics are not its strong point mind.

+1 for stormsure, used this on a leak in my air mat, my youngest’s dinghy and a seat pack. Good stuff.
