Oex Xenon Ultra is a 217 gram down jacket. I love mine!!
(it's the one in MattPages video of his around Wales trip)
And a lot cheaper than £200, if you can find one - I think they may have stopped making them now
Think it was £80!
Absolute bargain. Really light and packable. Goes into its own pocket, although still has a bit of loft even then, so for a short trip it will stuff down much smaller. Plus it has pockets! The lighter PHD ones I don't think they do, nor a full zip.
Not sure if its made any more. I know stock was low when I got mine at the start of the year.
I think I have been under-matted at times which hasn't helped. On my Neoair xlite I'm much warmer than on the Klymit X frame. I also don't take a ferret
No-one takes a ferret, but sometimes you get lucky and one decides to keep you company
I do tend to have at least a gilet with me or a hooded synthetic jacket for cooler trips. I like a down bag but prefer synthetic for jackets as it means you can wear it when riding when it's cold and wet. Doing that has saved me a couple of times so I don't mind the bigger packs size. I've had an Arcteryx Nuclei for about six years now which is a brilliant jacket.
Surely you know after 3 years Here that EVERY thread degenerates (well I would say 'advances' personally ) into either a/ comments about Stu's cheery disposition, or b/ how rubbish Se@lskins are, or c/ the bizarre things that come through Stu's letterbox, or d/ how fetching Mike looks in 'his' underwear. Long may it continue.
