which 2 beaches would you choose, and why.

Sandwood Bay, because it's beautiful and takes a bit of effort to get there. And it would be a nice track to cycle along (I've only walked it).
One of the smaller beaches near Durness, because you can get supplies there and there's a pub.
One of the beaches north of Ullapool, but they're close to the road.

Sandwood bay as its amazing, no road access and a rock stack.
Kervaig up towards Cape Wrath as its also not got public road access, is also amazing (nice view to Iceland!) and has a nearby bothy if / when the weather is horrible.

Wild or campsite?

Another vote for Sandwood if the former. Or Balnakeil.

Big Sand at Gairloch for the latter.

On Harris (if that still in the range) my girlfriend and I had a magic camp at Luskentyre.

Also Achnahaird. Colourful beach and rocks with amazing colours and structure. A lovely little camp ground amidst sheep and seagulls (yes, and also some animal poop).

We also camped wild at Mungasdale, asked the farmer and he was okay with it.
Had some magical moments with 'retired' horses. And midges :-)
It's a small beach and there's not as much to discover compared to e.g. Sandwood or Luskentyre, but the view...

The views from Mungasdale and Luskentyre out to the isles are absolutely unforgettable.

Sango Sands campsite at Durness is really good. Right on the headland above a lovely beach with great views.

Another vote for Sandwood bay, it's the one place I want to go once we're allowed out proper!

This spot at Traigh Allt Chailgeag was a couple of miles east of Durness, just up from the beach. Far enough from the road to be quiet.
