I have also been able to configure a Garmin InReach MapShare page for my YD300 trip next weekend. What I suspect might not be working is the service to change my InReach Mini from "Standby" to "Tracking" mode for that trip - assuming that is included in the scope of what is described as "Plan Changes". I have submitted the request to Protegear. They are usually very prompt in responding, but not this time !
At the end of the day, it's (hopefully) not the end of the world for me on that event but clearly - as you say - there are hugely serious implications for others globally across their many critical services.
Hopefully they will learn and be far more resilient in future.
So did they pay (and hence go against US government policy) or have they restored everything from backups?
Not sure how all that sort of thing works, but it must be a massive worry for any major company. I imagine if the hackers want your system, it's only a matter of time before they find a way in...
Article this morning said it was a group called Evil Corp, russian hackers based in Taiwan, they have already caused over $100 million of damage to other companies, so US Government has them on black list and sanctions, meaning Garmin would be severely reprimanded if they did pay.
Evil Corp does sound like it should be in a Marvel film..
