Presumably on the basis that he wanted the Group Start riders to experience it first. Special circumstances might apply. Or just do last years route. We know some of the changes anyway (Loch an Daimh, no Coffin Road and Poolewe back in).

Oh - just seen the new website is live - https://highlandtrail550.weebly.com/route.html
Re: Anyone have up-to-date HT550 GPX?
I noticed on the new website that there's a donation to be made to get the gpx, how much you donate is up to you I think.

I like that idea. It's the same for An Turas Mor.
Just looking at the home page for that website makes me all uncomfortable. All those people squashed together

Looks like three main bits are different: small loop near Laggan Wolftrax; different entry to Fisherfield; follows the West Highland Way in its entirety back to Tyndrum (there's a small hill rather than the road used in the bikepacking.com route)UnderTheRadars wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 8:41 pm So how out of date is this route?

Edit: a search will reveal a discussion about each

As Bob says, different in those places. It's different to the route I rode in 2018, the small hill at the end, so I'd say that's 2017 or earlier.

Earlier than 2017 Sean, as it doesn't use the Postman's Path. Lars references the 2016 edition but that used the Postman's Path as well so I suspect he used the original exit from Fisherfield via Poolewe because of the bracken growth you get on the PP later in the year.

Hence the exit to Poolewe is a better option.Asposium wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 9:22 pmBrackenwhitestone wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 9:13 pm Earlier than 2017 Sean, as it doesn't use the Postman's Path. I suspect the Postie path is currently invisible as its been bracken-tastic round here and up there has been wetter. Alan got back and confirmed he doesn't want to dish out the GPS track for the new route just yet.

May be worth looking into a bikepacking scythe in hope for the route being released.
