Decided I'm going to give this a miss. Not really comfortable travelling half way across the country when the furthest I've been in the last four months is 5 miles. I also wasn't really sure what I'd do about the usual food stops as I'd imagine a lot of the places I've used previously either aren't open or are limited capacity.

Plus... you know, I've sorta let myself go recently. :???:

Will also likely give a miss.

Without the social aspect it’s just another ride.

Was looking forward to the Friday night sleepover.

I done 280km mostly road over 24 hours, 15 hours riding. 3 hours lying on my back on the ground under the tarp awake, and the rest was eating or riding.

I was very tired.

I'm wondering if I can get around this offroad at all......

Well, firstly you don't have to finish the YD300 in 24 hours, so an easier pace would leave you less tired?

Is there a reason you didn't sleep? Could you change something so you do sleep? If you had a 6 hour kip at the end of the first day you'd have more energy for the second day.

Also, there's something about doing an 'event' that boosts energy levels, even of you don't see anyone else and are on your own.

You should be fine with that. As Sean says, you don't have to get round in under 24hrs. Plus it's surprising how "you just keep going". The YD300 is about 40% road BTW. For reference, bivvying somewhere around the top of Fleet Moss/Cam Fell will get you round in about 33hrs. (assuming you don't have an 8hr bivy of course!)

Is there a reason you didn't sleep? .

Squirrals shouting at me for 3 hours as I was on their patch of land... Annoying buggers.

I don't think ill be having a whole 8 hours somehow.

 I've only ridden about half the YD300 route but I don't recall seeing any squirrels so you'll be fine on that.

Will try to get out for a 200km ride in July but otherwise I'm relying on baseline fitness.

1st August. I.e. 11 days away. From memory it's a £20 entry fee, best check either Stuart's website or his FB group.

So sad... so sad to have to inform (myself firstly) that it falls on the potential Eid day so sadly gonna have to sit out (and maybe nurse my knees as me, Dave and Luke will probably have climbed 2 Everests and maybe 3 by then*)...

*If Luke doesnt stop playing these silly climbs...
