I'm a massive junglist. Got shelves of drum and bass 12's sat behind me right now. :-bd

Todays listening was:
Goldie essential mix from 2007
Four Tet - New energy
I missed out on jungle at the time (was far too deep in techno got a mountain of that myself) but am gradually making up for it.
I Bloody love the gnarly stuff, Lemon d and dillinja being favourites, and stuff from the early days too: https://youtu.be/BQFXneSROf8

Dee reminded me of these this morning. If you're into late 70's punk then you should appreciate these lads from Australia ... it really could be '79. I give you 'The Chats'.

If you're not, then don't bother ... you'll not like it.

"Beautiful!" as yer man says! Lead singer not quite pulling off the Lydon snarl though  . He's probably an estate agent or bank manager in real life  .

Anyway, back to proper music thanks to Stu  .

I have a few drum & bass releases on 12", mostly early Metalheads stuff, Source Direct, Photek, et al. I also have the Metalheads compilations, including the 5x12" Metalheadz Boxset 1 that came in the metal tin, although the shitty plastic sleeves have clouded the vinyl. Probably play LTJ Bukem more than any other though, Logical Progression, Earth, etc, etc...

The emphasis is on playable. 12” doesn’t fit in my cd or computer/iPod... cd or mp3 is what I was searching for. Ended up on YouTube instead...

You guys might be interested in this if you are into the old stuff.

Doc Scott recently put out this 1994-2001 remasted 31 Records release. Skip straight to "Shadow Boxing" for the reason to buy this. The whole thing is a chopped up breaks extravaganza as was the old skool style.

"Old" stuff? Hah! This is old D&B, 1962: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1J89zpFr1c. It's even called "Rave" decades before your lot thought the term up    . I've just dug the EP out and had a listen with bass turned up to 11 and it shook some bricks out of the chimney.

Eeeh I luv a bit of friendly rivalry of an afternoon!

I wouldn't dispute any of that what so ever.

Interesting, pretty much all electronic drum break based music from hardcore, jungle techno, drum and bass, dubstep, hip hop and the plethora of sub-genres in between, pretty much owe their existence to the sampling of drum breaks on funk and groove records from the 60's and 70's.

A great little bit here on "The Amen" from "Amen Brother" by the Winstons which is probably the most famous sampled 6 seconds of music that spawned numerous genres. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SaFTm2bcac
