.... various Toy Dolls live stuff, in preparation for their LIVE gig at Kentish Town in one month's time. Wonder what the entrance checks will be. Mr Barter angling for last-minute tickets perchance?

Nancy Griffith who sadly died last week.
I spent a month in Heidelberg and only had her cd Other Voices Other Rooms with me
although I prefer Other Voices Too.
Lots of songs you may recognise by other artists.
Could have gone to see her at Cambridge Corn Exchange with the Blue Moon Orchestra but I didn't for some reason.

Also got new ear worm I picked up off R3 Bella ci dormi
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEigpHQVMlk
Lots of versions about reminiscent of the music from Montalbano but I prefer this version
with acoustic guitar.
Zazen - nothing happens next this is it.

Had to pass on this fabulous recommendation from our very excellent colleague Mr BDS. As he says, what absolutely cracking lyrics.

(Kev, Peter, Verena: appreciated if you don't elaborate on the significance of this just yet please!! )

Which was followed by https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXS97qmxYG8 - well I never realised that our very own Bob was lead guitarist in Half Man Half Biscuit :-bd

Might have mentioned these lads before - two brothers from Yorkshire who go by the name Cellar Door Moon Crow. I saw them in Manchester a couple of years ago and they were superb. Anyway, revisited them this morning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9iNKB0hAgg

Took you long enough Reg,I’ve been banging on about HMHB for ages in some subtle and not so subtle forms.
Currently listening to Red Hot Chili peppers-BSSM. Learned every track on the bass for that album, what an education. Although Fea’s slap gets the limelight my favourite is the syncopated bridge to ‘Breaking the girl’ as if waltz timing wasn’t enough :-bd
Come to think of it it could be a time for an appeal, I’m listening to the album as I send my lad random albums which I deem important to his education, so which albums would you think essential? My current top two for this month are BSSM and at the other end of the spectrum ‘What’s Going On?’ By Marvin Gaye, I know he’ll not get the Marvin Gaye album but I’d feel embarrassed if he came to me in the future and I’d not played it to him.
so essential albums to hear before you’re 14 :-bd

Yes, yes... but was it Bill, or was it.... Bob?

If you remember I was keen to join in the HMHB gig at the same time as The Rezillos but "stuff" got in the way to my eternal chagrin  . Not too late though chap. Gigpacking is not dead, just.... sleeping....

Essential? How far back do you want to go? Remember that the iconic bass player Mr Harris - first electric bass (Fender Precision) in the UK by many accounts, I have all his vinyl including the ultra-rare 1967 My Lady (Troggs!) - gave Mr James Page and Mr JPJones their first break in his band. Led Zepp? Hah! So, yes, Mr Harris must be on your list. Perhaps... not an album.. but a single... 1962.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLsmsKkAFQw

Vaguely coincidentally, a pal of mine is a certain Mr N Beggs, who knows JPJ very well, and we were THIS close to re-uniting JPJ with Jet at Amersham 22nd March 2008 after 45 years.... ah, memories... don't ask Mr Beggs about once chasing some ne'er-do-wells down our road at midnight together clad only in our underpants.....

Easy fella! Got to gentle with these youngsters, full on punk could literally blow their minds. That said as one of my ‘care packages’ I sent my lad a copy of Talking Heads-‘ Remain In Light’. As expected nowt was said by the ungrateful little tyke, until he were at his grandparents where I heard him say ‘ I’m so jealous my Dad has seen people like that and Nivanna as well" turned out it was top of his playlist.
I enjoyed that semi-amphibious stage of child rearing, pop them in a bath and then enjoy up to two full albums worth of ‘education’ I bet my lad will automatically close his eyes every time he hears ‘Have you Ever Seen The Rain’ :-bd

for me a little bit of Agnes Obel. something very simplistic and melodic.
discovered her recently as they used her music as a theme tune to Vigil the TV series.
it’s growing on me with every play
