By ‘86 they were almost a cabaret act... Europe in ‘77, man that must have taken some balls.
It's the sound that I was equating really but I take your point.
Contemporaneous too so you could theoretically have ended up at the wrong gig and seen suicide. :-bd

Imagine if you will, it’s 1970, you’re dressed to the nines for some quality classical music (some nice symphonic bombast no doubt) at the Guggenheim Museum, NYC and then these motherfuckers start up...
Imagine the arm ache from playing maracas for 16 minutes... 😳

Oh man, I’ve led you up the garden path, it was 1973 at Carnegie Hall. Here is a quote from that gig:
A 1973 performance of Four Organs at Carnegie Hall in New York City nearly caused a riot, with "yells for the music to stop, mixed with applause to hasten the end of the piece."[5] One of the performers, Michael Tilson Thomas, recalls: "One woman walked down the aisle and repeatedly banged her head on the front of the stage, wailing 'Stop, stop, I confess.'"
Now, that is punk rock!

This morning started off sedately. First up, SugarShit Sharp by the fabulous Pussy Galore:

Feeda my ego!

Then, just to ensure that edge is sharp enough; Funhouse:

Might be tempted to throw on Raw Power in a minute (Penetration probably being my favourite stooges song...)...

16 minutes playing the same chord on your organ (steady Reg!).
A dominant eleventh if yer interested. Described by the composer as: the longest V–I cadence in the history of Western Music...

Play yer cards right I might find more Lower East Side meets Uptown for you in the evening...

Continuing the Brass fetish from a few posts back.....

https://open.spotify.com/track/0FsgIAih ... 5jnyEUW7YQ

https://open.spotify.com/track/7ldYxMu8 ... Jyj5ocqUuw

https://open.spotify.com/album/6SgVvtGy ... Ag6Cy2defw

Had a few little tears in my eyes at the first one.

Not sure if Brass stuff has the same impact if you're not from certain places and certain times (Yorkshire mining village for me).

I used to host a music based quiz at our local pub (remember them?) in Penistone. A regular, you know the type, hard as nails, had an opinion on everything, old as the hills, sat nursing a pint all evening, was in one evening when I had a film themed quiz which involved guessing the film from a clip of the soundtrack. I played the Aranjuez Concierto from Brassed Off and was amazed to see him sat there with tears rolling down his cheeks.

The postie delivered another echo studio so I finally have something decent sounding. I’ve been testing them out by watching a great documentary on John Entwhistle, a real hero of mine, and playing my new favourite band, Brass Against, who’d have thought RATM played by a brass band would work?
My son summed it up as, “at first I was scared, but WOW”

Possibly the most sane of The Who. Are bass players noted for their sanity d'you think Steve?

Generally yes, it works on a sliding scale with drummers being absolutely nuts in most cases.

I was listening to the cricket until recently. It's over now though :-bd
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Arf!

Cricket on t'wireless is great. Especially if you switch on part way through when it can be anything up to an hour before you can hear any sound or voice at all. Even then it'd probably just be something like a murmured "oh, I say" (*). The ultimate in mellow relaxation.

Or better still, "The batsman's Holding, the bowler's Willey" of course.

FKA Twigs. Was driving round recently and heard her interview with Louis Theroux. Sounded like a lovely person. Music odd (to me) but seeing how it goes. Potential grower.

Say what you like, but the moment the curtains open in a bar in the Philly on a quiet-Tuesday to reveal the titan himself bashing out the hits to a stunned bunch of punters is quite something  .
