On Aug 4th 1978, this was released by EMI ... here we go 2, 3, 4. They also appear to have their own version of Bez.

^^ My son has an annoying neighbour called Gordon - The temptation to get the lad to add this to his Spotify playlist has so far been thwarted.

Jilted John now known as John Shuttleworth periodically appears on Radio 4 in a spectacularly unfunny sitcom. Both were inventions of comedian Graham Fellows.

It does amaze me it keeps getting re commissioned .... "spectacularly unfunny" is absolutely spot on !

Mrs Perrin has absconded for the weekend to see her brother. Yippee, Reg can do whatever he likes! I know, I'll get Joan round to look at some paperwork.....

Nah, much more fun than that is cracking open the vinyl vaults and playing anything and everything at random, but mostly my early 1960's gems, all turned up to 12. Many of them are only your standard 60's 2-minute pop thrills but maybe better for all that. AND while I'm at it I can unseal all of my secret chocolate stashes - hidden from Mrs P all over the house - and scoff those as well. Bliss!

Digital (yuk) versions of the first three (instrumentals) that I took for a spin, different styles but all of 'em fast n furious:

One of my faves of all time, charted at #2 in April 1963, Jet Harris & Tony Meehan's "Scarlett O'Hara" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFt0aY5TwAA
(bit of 60's history: John Paul Jones on bass guitar - his big break came in 1962, when he was hired by Harris/Meehan for a two-year stint. They previously had a #1 hit with "Diamonds", with JPJ on bass and no less than Jimmy Page on his first outing on rhythm guitar. JPJ's subsequent collaboration with The Shadows almost prevented the formation of Led Zeppelin, when there was a strong possibility of JPJ replacing Shads' bassist Brian Locking. There are a lot of interesting connections in early-60's instrumental bands - Ritchie Blackmore was initially lead guitarist of Joe Meek band The Outlaws in 1962, with Chas Hodges on bass!)

A rare one also from '63, The Cougars "Saturday Nite At The Duckpond" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNOZscdpHws

Bit of '66 surf from across the [not duck] pond.... Davie Allan & The Arrows "Tomahawk" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oT8gXGmTkOo

Right, more chocolate.....

Have you come across a series of albums by the name 'Pebbles' Reg? I think you'd like them. Someone borrowed mine and I never got them back.

Ta Phil, not bad. I like silly, the intro was the best bit  . I'm sure we had an armchair like that once when I was a kid.

Right now: the ringing in my ears.

Last night: Lisa Lashes at Escape festival in Swansea, also Effy, and lots of others, but those were my favourites.

Yep, she really is. Starting to research where we might be able to go see her again...gotta make the most of my midlife crisis and my young 'un discovering clubbing and for the moment being semi ok to drag her old mum round with her

A bit of Monday morning Crass.
As a yoof I bought (and still have ) Nagasaki Nightmare / Big A Little A on 7" . Absolutely loved Big A Little A .. one of those songs I knew pretty much all of the lyrics to (I'd like to say all but there's a couple of lines in the middle that for some reason were either incomprehensible or just refused to stick in my head ) and even now, at 55, I can still sing along, much to the missus annoyance. I can do big chunks of it without the song playing.
I do like a bit of Crass. Always enjoyed Penny Rimbaud's drumming. :-bd

It’s Banned From the Roxy for me.

I am 57...

I have been listening/watching Olivia Rodrigo’s cover of Taylor Swift’s ‘Cruel Summer’ again and continue to be amazed by the lyrics. I never really got the original (a bit too much electro-pop for me) but Livi’s stripped down unadorned versión allows it to truly shine... I’m pretty sure that it’s not the BB orthodoxy but this video validates (to me) both the women’s significant talents.

I offer, in my defence, that I am currently declared ‘not fit for work’...

Many moons ago in the early 90's, someone gave me a tape with a couple of hardcore punk bands on. Never found out who they were. One was really good. Nigh on 30 years later, youtube presented me with Extreme Noise Terror - Phonophobia. And now I know.

Tim Timebomb. Some will recognise him as he's quite a distinctive voice.
