Reading all these options I'm thinking the best option is still a spare pair of woollen socks and 2 plastic bags.
That gives you the added advantage of a pair of nice dry spare socks to wear on the last days riding.

For those interested in the Vivo barefoot, they were half price on sportpursuit last week so worth keeping an eye out.
Ex-army goretex boot liners are my choice, used the same way as the plastic bag options but then can be used under riding shoes too

You've just reminded me Paul ... Lidl have Neoprene beach shoes for about £3. I saw some yesterday and they look okay.
