Tour Divide 2020

Post by voodoo_simon »

Tonight would have been the start of the 2020 race.

So why not celebrate the race and post some pics of yourself doing it from previous years?

Or post some links to articles or films that you’ve enjoyed :-bd

Cheers

Agreed. Big sky country, what I'd do to go there now.

I wasn't going to take a camera. It was a race* after all. My mum said I'd regret not stopping to look at the view sometimes, no photos to bring back - she was right. Amazing places and times.

*TT, test, whatever we call it.

Thanks for this thread - amazing photos. Always wanted to do this before I turned 40 but unfortunately that was on April 29 and I’m overweight and unfit now.

And what an incredible thing to do with your son Rich. He’s going to be a hell of a rider. I’d love to do it with my boy who is 5.

In theory you could cycle yourself into fitness by slowly ramping up the miles. That would be my plan

Incidentally, there are a couple of riders who started out today on the GDMBR route one of whom I'm especially rooting for, Jeff who owns the store at Hachita. This is his 3rd attempt.

I did wonder if some local folk might be tempted to do the border to border option this year. Must check out. Will post some pics next time on laptop.

Really? That’s brilliant.
We stayed in the Hachita community centre for two days waiting for a parcel (replacement tent fly) before heading to Mexico. Jeff was such a lovely bloke. He said that he really wanted to ride the route but didn’t ever think he could. Let’s hope he finishes this time.

Great pics! I'll miss it for the general excitement and great pics and stories mainly, and that it is always a source of inspiration for me. Don't really do much dot watching any more, but like to see updates and stories like Greg's and Dave's rides.

I'll have a dig on my HD later and see if there are any images that I haven't shared that remind me of things.
