The old military allowance was 2 pounds, let's call it a kilo, of rations and fuel per man per day. That's what we also reckoned on when on expeditions to the Himalaya, it's not too far out for an active person.

Not sure what the average time for the GBDuro was last year, let's say twelve days so that's twelve kilos of food and fuel. That's basically the weight of my MTB! Another four to five kilos (at least) of kit and bags. I wouldn't want to be heading down anything technical with that amount strapped to my bike and I certainly wouldn't want to be on a "gravel" bike, the handling would be horrific.

IMO they would have been better to say: "Be prepared to be completely self-sufficient but the final decision will be taken a week before the event."

Can I assume that someone makes some money from this event?

I was speaking to some this morning who had entered but has now withdrawn and they said entry was around £150. I not sure what that included but I think there was accommodation at the finish. Whether there's any profit or whether it's simply a cost covering exercise I know not.
