Frame bags and Carbon bikes

Post by Lazarus »

Well as above really
I have used them with alloy and steel but not carbon so a few questions
1) i assume its safe/nothing to worry
2) i assume i put invisitape where it will attach / potentially rub- any other suggestion?
3) Anything else i need to be "concerned" about or am I just worrying because i am a luddite who does not really trust carbon
Thanks

Just make sure you've got invisitape at any points where the straps go. Other than that there's nowt to worry about. Especially so on the overengineered stuff (my carbon forks by Bertoletti have a ddep groove inside from tyre rub with last owner, but been fine for 1000s of miles  ) by say Salsa and SC :-bd

Thick tape at any contact point is all you need to think about. Consider how the bag might jump around a bit or bulge when full.

+1 What Colin said- don't forget to tape places like the front of the head tube if your bar bag is going to be anywhere near. Bags can also effect cable routing in this area.
Even electrical tape will do for short rides.
