Moon-on-a-stick sleeping bag recommendations please

Post by Specialist Hoprocker »

I think I'm looking for the impossible:
  • Lightish
  • Spacious
  • Packs small
  • Synthetic
  • 3 season warm (I get cold...)
  • Cheapish
I'm getting to the age that I need some comfort. Spent last night in my Columbia Moonstone. Barely able to zip it up because it's too narrow, and chilly because I was in the hammock and the down was compressed.

The best bag I ever had was a Vango from the nineties which was capacious but equally heavy and uncompressible! I'm reckoning technology must have moved on by now!

Anyone got any good recommendations for around the £100 mark?

Ta muchly.

As soon as you add synthetic to the list I think Lamina of one type or another - A Hyperlamina Spark would likely be a good bet but I'm assuming they're no longer in production.

The other option could be a synthetic quilt. There's a UK made one here: https://valleyandpeak.co.uk/products/cl ... t-standard

Or a cheaper one from the EU. Looks very good especialy considering the price and would likely offer the least amount of compromise.

The oft quoted "Pick Two" definitely applies here.

As Stu says - a MH Lamina of the relevant warmth rating would be my suggestion. I have two - a zero rated Lamina 32 and a -18 rated Lamina 0. (numbers are rating in deg F)

Thanks all, just found and extra long Lamina -9 on a dodgy looking French website at a knockdown price. So I ordered it.

Looking forward to a warm and comfortable night. Maybe.
