{Struggling to think of a post title}.

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

This is merely an observation that I found interesting ... before anyone climbs up onto a tall pony.

Restrap are doing a run of limited edition bags and such which is smashing but when I saw this photograph I had to take a second and third look as my brain couldn't quite understand what it was seeing. Look at the hands, then look at the face.

My mind says, the position of the hands indicate they belong to a woman but the beard says it's a man. I appreciate it's not very exciting but it struck me how perception can be swayed but maybe it's just me?

you are just so binary....grandad get with the kids and gender fluidity

I think we just associate handbags with ladies and that makes it appear to be more feminine than it really is.

I’ll admit I’m struggling to think of the point you’re trying to make

Just looks like a bloke putting something in or taking something out of a musette to me.

Can we have an addition to the swear filter please?

Stu - I get what you are saying. We are probably more familiar seeing that pose with someone who identifies as "not a man" - but then we can't infer anything about how the person in the photo wants to define their gender.

That's perhaps true but I (like you) are from a generation that thought Benny Hill was perfectly normal afternoon family viewing, so I'm probably tainted.

Perhaps so Colin. It's not the fact that someone is placing / removing something from what looks a little like a handbag (something we're used to seeing women do) but it's something more subtle about the relationship between them, the bag and how they're holding their hands.

Oh - I know exactly what you mean. Was it posed like that or is that one of a stream of photos? I could look back through thousand of my photos and find a few where folk are caught in an unfortunate pose. I guess that, if I think through the process of wearing/using one of those handbags, then that might be the perfectly natural and sensible way to use it.

It's David Millar's brand so it does have the racing heritage at least and not just made up advertising bs.

Gives me a couple of ideas though,
  • become a top racing cyclist
  • make some tool rolls
I might struggle with the first one though, I'm not sure a 14th place in the HT550 is enough heritage to charge £40 for a tool roll

Calling his brand CHPT3 makes inquisitive types investigate Chapters 1 & 2.
Chapter 1, become a decent junior and youth roadie, get taken on by a pro team and use drugs to get to the next level. Get caught and fall from grace.
Chapter 2, do your time and become a born again anti drugs evangelist, write a best selling book bleating that "the big boys made you do it" which amazingly people seem to believe. Surprise surprise, never regain former glories as cheating has moved on. Who says cheats never prosper?

Hmm...perhaps it is a woman, looks like she’s robbing him while pretending to hug him

I believe that’s known as a compromising position in certain circles

Uhm, would you have chosen to use it if it were just a random picture?

Given that CHPT3 are based in Girona along with a whole host of wanky overpriced cycle brands, such as The Service Course, that make R@pha look like Wurzel Gummidge's brand of choice, I think a suitable thread title should be "Only in Girona"
I did a gravelwanker event there a couple of years ago, boy did I feel poor!

Or possibly/hopefully the Goings position if he keeps digging any deeper
