Road orientated frame suggestions please

Post by UnderTheRadars »

Hi all

I’ve a Kinesis Pro Six cross bike that I really don’t get on with, It’s not the bike, it’s me, I’ve finally admitted to myself that I’m not designed for the more race like geometry.

I’d like something that is comfortable for long/multiple days riding/bikepacking/pootling on the road (I have a Fargo for off-road bikepacking) Something a bit more upright/long head tube

Cheap (£500 max of course expect suggestions for used frames to look out for in this budget)

Something I can just swap all the parts from my Kinesis over (so bog standard QR’s/hub sizes/threaded bb/27.2mm post etc)

Over to you guys....

Happy with the Fargo as is for off-road. Yeah been looking at the Vaya, just have to hope the right one comes along for sale somewhere (if that’s what I decide upon)

How did I not spot that?  It may be a bit too big, need to check the geometry specs out

Hmmm really I need to free up funds by selling stuff first, will be keeping an eye on that one to see if it sells in the meantime, cheers Colin :salute:

How about this for an off the wall suggestion: if it's purely for road work and nothing else there's no end of retro steel frames about. The only issue you might encounter swapping parts from a modern bike is the rims. Older frames like narrow rims, Mavic Open 4CD that sort of thing, wider stuff won't fit.

Happy with retro steel, as long as they take disc brakes
