KAPZ - Bearbones design ?

Post by Adventurer »

Just seen KAPZ a top cap design company.

Some lovely designs and looks like you can design your own and they will make them.

Would Bearbones be interested?

I had them make me one for Taylor a couple of years ago in recognition of him having attended all 10 WRT. 'Twas lovely with deep laser etching / engraving but it wasn't cheap and that's the thing that's always put me off from having any made.

Maybe instead of getting a load made.

Maybe send them a design and if any on the forum want one, they buy them themselves individually, direct from Hedz?

Would that work?

Thought I had a photo of it somewhere but it would appear that I haven't.

Possibly, I'll inquire.

I've got one on my bike, was a birthday present

Says "Keep going daddy" and then the names of my kids. Seems pretty good quality, definitely recommended

I got a few made up for a group of guys I go cycling with - it was a Xmas pressy to them all. Nicely made. Designs just have to be worked around the fact there's a hole in the middle.

Right then, as promised I've started making inquiries and I'll tell you that it's like slowly pulling teeth with pliers. So, before I continue, I thought I'd best just check and see whether anyone would actually be interested in buying a cap. Rightly or wrongly, I'm thinking that 'Stop Being Soft' would likely be the obvious choice of design. However, to do them justice I'm reckoning they may need to be of a boltless variety which aren't cheap ... something like £29

It might be possible to get a colour matched bolt, in which case the price would likely drop to around £23.

Either way, they're not exactly cheap. Do I carry on or give it up as a bad job?

For that much I'd just put a sticker there and accept that it would look more tatty than etched bling. Tatty is more my vibe anyway.

A sticker designed around a bolt hole would be of interest, but may not do the design justice and would still look tatty after any rain or time.

There's a possibility (and it'd take a while to find out) that I could laser etch some annodised caps on the laser cutter in my department at school. As we're currently not in, then I haven't got access to the tech details to see if we have the right wavelength of laser to do that.

If anyone was interested then I'll have a hunt when we're back in a few weeks (maybe...)

Well I seem to remember asking you if you were going to do cycle caps and top caps at the end of last year, So I'm certainly in for a stop being soft top cap.

I actually started working up some of my own artwork using the skull and crossbones version of the bear, with the stop being soft slogan as I assumed you won't going to go down this route. :-bd

Of the things I'd blow that amount of cash on from "you" a top-cap would not be one of them. I could get another bamboo T for that sort of money

Snap, but I cheated and just used a pic of the original sticker. Unfortunately too blurry for them so would definitely be up for an official one.

Cycle cap would be ace :-bd

I think I'm finally getting somewhere - I'm hoping that anyone who wants one will simply be able to buy one directly from Kapz as and when they feel the need.

Bugger! I was just about coping with having to work rather than bike the last few months, knowing I missed out on this might just push me over the edge!!!
