Exped repair glue

Post by Bearlegged »

Boo! I've got a hole in my Exped mat.
Hurrah! I've found the hole, and am ready to repair it! I've even read the instructions!
Boo! My little tube of glue has dried up (despite having never opened it).

Are there any easily obtainable substitutes (e.g. puncture kit vulcanising solution)?

I cant help with the glue specification... but when I punctured my Exped pillow I used a glueless tyre repair patch, it was a Specalized Flat Boy patch but there are several brands that make them. It's still holding a year later. It was on a flatish area so not at an a seam or shaped section.

This used to happen to me with puncture repair kits, where does it go :???:

Their little own branded glue is nothing else than Seamgrip. Not 100 % but quite sure.
Seamgrip will do just fine.
Follow the instructions by Exped and you'll get the same results.

Seamgrip is a PU glue. Again, nothing special there.

Don't use vulcanisers (for natural rubber). The Exped mat has a PU coating on Nylon. It won't work.

Seamgrip is the way forward - worth getting some because it's useful for many repairs. Keep it in the freezer so it stays good.

However, there's a pre-glued puncture repair patch (of the Park variety) on my old sleeping mat that's been on there for years and never failed.

Excellent. Thank you all. I've even managed to find my recently-bought pack of Park patches.

As a (late) disclaimer, I used it on a Mountain Equipment mat - could be (probably is) a completely different material from your Exped. It's worth a try, but test it before using it on a glacier or something.

This is bound to end in a fireball of doom, isn't it?
