Cheers, I think I saw Bridget post this (or something similar), but had forgotten about it. At that price, it's worth a try as a Viewranger replacement, though I've heard mixed views on it.

Columbia Outdry EX Reign jackets are £93 down from £155 (with free shipping) on Columbia's website. As most will know, these jackets are a bit of a BearBones go to for ultimate foul weather protection. I already have the lighter weight version that's designed for trail running but have just bought one of these as well (it's heavier but has pit zips which mine doesn't have). Sizes L, XL and XXL only unfortunately and the sale ends soon by the sounds of it (I couldn't see exactly when though).

Brilliant jacket, great company.

But saying that there sale ends soon is a bit like saying the DFS sale finishes soon.

Wait a month and there will always be another one

Yep, they've gone up. Mine was £93 on Monday so the sale has ended or evolved. Maybe they'll go down again soon (if they're less than £93 I don't want to know though).

I'm going to keep my eyes open for these in case they come down again in price. What size for 39-40" chest and 35" waist? I was assuming medium, butt think they're currently out of stock in that size.

..plan is the waist size comes down over the next couple of months, but no sign of progress on that yet!

I'm 5'11" tall, around 13stone, 40-42" chest and 33" waist and both of mine are size large and fit well. Dunno if that helps at all. Fwiw I often find the sleeves to be a bit short in garments (must have long arms) but the sleeves are plenty long enough on the new jacket.

It's almost worth a spare at that price. Great jackets.

on my jacket (in gold) the wrist elastic appears to be tight. tighter than other jackets. it isn't uncomfortable or doesn't cut off circulation. maybe it because it is strong elastic. YMMV
I hope you think you know, what I might of exactly meant.

Ah, sorry Laz. I think I had mentioned this on the 'Post' thread.

Worse for me (so far) - I whinged that I only received the filter itself, so they apologised and sent me..... another filter on its own. I've finally ended up with no bottle and a refund. Spoke to three separate people at OS. Sigh! Wonder if we're the only two it's happened to?

Anyroad, the moment, and initial enthusiasm, has now passed and I've given up. Partly because I'm not now convinced one can store the bottle dry between uses and stop the '2 month per filter' clock ticking.

Same for me, i noticed the product code on the invoice and website was not the same as on the filter that was delivered so contacted customer service on web form.

I got an email a couple of days later apologising and they sent the bottle a couple of days after that. I now have a bottle and spare filter!
