Chilly's stainless thermal bottles. Lilac and bogie green half price at a tenner. Only just ordered so can't comment on actual heat retention or if they fit in a cage but online reviews are positive.
Morrisons do a flip top flask (double walled silver stainless steel vaccuum) that's been just fine for coffee and fits in a bottle cage / gorilla cage. Something like £5 or £7. Slightly more convenient wide neck opening than those Chilly bottles look as well.
At £19 full price (and even £10 on sale) they seem expensive and of fairly average design
Funnily enough I bought a 355ml flask in Morrison's to replace my rather useless Trail 42 one. The big advantage of those bottles I linked to is that there is only one stopper to access the contents as opposed to unscrewing a useless (to me) cup. Leaving the cup off makes for less effective insulation and poppers etc will be a faff with mitts on. In theory anyway!
I agree about traditional flasks. I tried to find a link to the Morrisons ones but google-fu was week. They're a flip/top lid and much better than regular flasks.

I bought one!
One downside is that the popper is already loose so you have to use the extra latch which is another level of faff. Still, it was £4 and keeps drinks piping hot on my commute. The Trail42 one was good, and my mates is still OK, but mine now conducts heat through the sides and a drink is lukewarm after 40 mins.
It's just too narrow for a bottle cage, but cut an old piss bottle in half and jam the flask into the bottom half and it sits perfectly in a bottle cage, as you'd expect. Or get busy with some twine and shellac.
I bought a Lifeventure one on your recommendation JackT (assuming you are the Bike Show Jack and not another one!), and it's been ace. I bought the zip-up cover insulating cover which also helps keep it hot but you could MYO pretty easily.
I've had one of those insulating mugs for yonks. They're good and very robust. Not as efficient as a proper thermos but not bad at all. I used to use it for long commutes in a car with no cup holders
However, for most stuff I'd rather take a proper mini thermos than one of those as I find they fulfil the flask role better
Zippy, I have a similar pair branded 'Ayacocho' I got from Cotswolds Outdoors for £15. Just weighed them at 110 grams (medium size) and they do fold up really small.
I stepped outside a bothy in them and they did let moisture through quickly but they dry ok and are machine washable. Fine indoors though.

I have a pair of these, in that very colour, they do look a lot like a ninja turtle's feet but they are warm in winter for bothy/bivi. I gaffa taped the soles to make them less porous and to stop the fabric base wearing out quickly. Boss, as my work colleague would say
