I loved my 5 10 boots until the sole came away after a years use. I have heard this is quite common and yes, they get wet very easily.

For Bikepacking just get some walking boots/trainers.

They will dry out faster than 5.10's, you'll have more grip for a bit of hike-a-bike, and they'll be cheaper ;)

A water resistant down winter jacket like the Rab Infinity for just £104 (for today only) £122.39 any other time.

http://www.golite.com/Mens-Bitterroot-W ... 47041.aspx

The only problem is that they don't ship to the uk.

You have to order it over the phone (not on line) and have it shipped to a friend or relative in the states who can then send it over to you.

I've ordered mine,

5-10's are normally quite big, for the normal Spitfires go for at least 1/2 size down to your normal footware (not cycling shoes).
The canvas Spitfires come up a bit smaller, so you shouldn't be far off with your normal size.

There's hardly any 5-10's that are really suitable for 'wet' riding. There are some with 'waterproof' uppers, but they're still gonna let water in round the ankle..

H&M thin down jacket for £17. Orange and green (not just the awful green camo one in the link). Reasonable for the price. Small = 234g

I just ordered one of these. Have my suspicions as to its quality and inevitably to the source of the down, but you never know, it could be the bargain of the year or end up at the top of the pile of other bargain stuff Ive collected over the years …

The TREATS code increases discount from 10 to 15% and there is 3.5% Quidco cashback. Not earth shattering mind you. :)

Ah great, thanks for that - the Mary bars are £15 right now, from £35... Shame there's no red ones!

ETA - actually loads of the on-one bars are well cheap, including the Mungo's and Midges 8-)

50% off Sportful, Craft & Primal riding kit in Halfords, those three and everything else (Altura, etc) is on 3 for 2. If you've got BC vouchers then another 10% off that. I was in a hurry so didn't get a good look at what's there but got a Sportful Gilet for a tenner. :)
