2- New Bike day, when I can pick it up

3- First Ride

1) Forests - enough said really but love the ever changing colours throughout the year. The smells and am the peace and calm from them. Love how the sun comes in through the trees

2) Hills and mountains - the views, the solitude

3) wifey-voodoo and mini-voodoo - I’m very lucky but I always have someone at home to listen to me, to go out with, spend time with, argue with  etc and kids, yes I may want to strangle them but she’s ace

Obviously options 1+2+3 can be combined to get even happier times or mixed in with biking or running :-bd

In case anyone's interested, this is what it looks like to be astride a 1400 horsepower bike. I met Ian King in the US some years ago, a proper gent but maybe slightly mad.

Jeez! I’ve been watching Ken Block in a 1400BHP car recently and I thought that was mad but that’s insane on a bike

Used to go to Santa Pod in my younger days in 70's n 80's.
Had a mate that had a robin supervan 3 bodied with a Jag 4.2 and a mix of running gear.
It was vereeee noiseeee in the pits!
As a young apprentice mechanical engineer it was magical!
I once worked a Saturday overtime then went to the pod on my Ducati pantah and lost a whole weeks wage packet there  about £22! Crippled me for weeks!
Finance on the pantah was almost £15pw,plus I had two other jobs, cleaning a dole office and silver service waiter at a Greek restaurant.( We were keen as youngsters in those days!! ) Sigh!!
Edit. Craig and Stuart Lowe's were the guys with Jag powered funny cars, eventually going big. You probably are familiar with all the British guys , I had lost interest in the nineties, got into owning a motorcycle business etc!

I've enjoyed being stuck in the house this week with my whole family.

I've also enjoyed the postie dropping off a couple of things for future adventures.

Looking forward to being back outside in the hills.

This week:

1) My 7yr old lads immediate addiction to Zwift when I put his bike on my direct-drive turbo to prove to him that isolation wouldn't be as bad as he thinks;

2) Buying a load of packets of veg seeds then realising what that must look like at the supermarket till (the missus just suggested getting some for something the kids could do as home schooling lessons);

3) The "Love you Sheila, can we get you any groceries" postcard my 5 year old daughter made to put through our 80-something year old next door neighbours door.

I also rode my bike for some essential travel to work this morning, but it was raining and I got a puncture so it didn't make my happy list, and perhaps there is a god dishing out karma punishment.

This is a great idea for a thread

1) Blackbirds , I love watching them and their song is a thing of wonder .

2) When you smile at a random stranger and they smile back .

3) When I am out on the bike and that moment when it all clicks into place .

Having said that.....

I'm struggling not to include the sound of nothing but nature.

Right now I'll swap that for the wife/kids (day 3 of total lockdown). :-bd

Stu.. can you pm me a recording of the fuel switch over. I like unusual mechanical noise!
At around 1m 15s you see the bloke at the side switch the main pumps on ... what happens next is the bit that makes me happy. If you turn it up you'll get an idea of the noise but obviously the actual 'feeling' of 1000's of horsepower constrained doesn't come across but watch what happens to the camera at 2m 30s

1. This reminds me of discovering new music by chance - a lot of it sounding like when that thing opens up.

2. The feeling when you wake up the day after you nearly got killed at work. This is a feeling I have had more times than I would have liked.

3. Scenery - it doesn't have to be a grand vista, a patch of heath-land near me in sunlight after rain is just as uplifting as something like the view at the entrance to Yosemite Valley.

Today,

1. A pair of treecreepers. Normally only ever see one, so a pair somewhat unusual (though it is that time of year)
2. Milk in glass bottles from the milkman.
3. Eggs from our own hens.

2. Bivvying on a clear, dry night with a view of the night sky and no light pollution.
3. Coming home after a long bike trip.
