Suggest a jerket

Post by composite »

I'm looking for a new long sleeve top and tried out a Castelli Perfetto jersey/jacket. It was exactly what I was looking for... is it a jersey? Is it a jacket? It's sorta a bit of both. The only problem was the fit. It was a nice slim fit around the body and chest but too tight in the shoulders and sleeves. I would want to be able to wear it over a short sleeve jersey or base layer, but once it gets a bit warmer just on its own.

I have looked at a bunch of direct brands tonight, La Passione, Albion, Band of Climbers, that had similar but all were sold out in my size; 40inch chest.

Le Col does a nice looking "Pro" jacket but proper spendy. I don't mind spending some decent money on a nice quality top but these were £220!

As something slightly different there are these Rivelo Merino long sleeve tops at Sport Pursuit at the moment which may be fit the bill but in a different way to all the to others.

Can anyone suggest something that is similar, that fits the description above? By the way, it doesn't need any sort of waterproofing, I have a Shake Dry for light rain duties. Extra points if it comes in hi-vis orange.

EDIT: One thing I did really like about the Perfetto was that it felt quite sturdy and well-shaped in the body. Almost like a thin neoprene... errr but not quite... I'm not after a wet suit top.

Not orange but Endura's Adventure jersey is an adaptable piece of kit

Or their Pro SL thermal is like a thin neoprene

I recently bought a Galibier Vu Winter Jacket and it become my favourite ever. If you want more/different protection, then they do other jackets that are waterproof, or windproof etc. It fits really well, I could easily get a short sleeve jersey under it, although it's not particularly packable or anything. Galibier appear to have nothing flashy, or ground breaking, just good value for money stuff that fits and performs well. Obviously YMMV...
There are theories at the bottom of my jargon.

Planet X do a similar thing to the Perfetto. Not tried it but seems to get good reviews an it’s cheap.

Thanks for this, I'm going to give their Roubaix long sleeve jersey a whirl.
