Yep, great opportunity missed there! And a choice of two weekends too - could even have been a split figure-of-eight ride over both weekends :-bd
Would make bog-snorkelling look like the sport of amateurs
Yes well have you forgotten that event you put on on January 11/12!?!?! Your memory might be short but it's indelibly etched in mine for ever more matey

And Peter, I wasn't sure if your first sentence (red balls...) was entirely separate from the last bit of the paragraph

Made it to 3 feet under the flood defence wall near my house. Sounds like a lot of room, except it's normally 10 foot under it...

Most of Cardiff Castle grounds are flooded. I'd post a vid but they're all facebook links.

This shouldn't require a login: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1276524 ... 357043477/

Up on the ridge between Moel Famau and Moel Arthur today, not a soul on there except me and the wifey! Never seen it so quiet before, not even mid week in the dark

I rode to Anglesey and honestly Denis is much more of a dribble than deluge, just constant drizzle, none of that proper bouncy rain. The wind was the power play. The reason for my destination was it was as North Wales as I could get so I had plenty of tailwind to play with.

Will write up tomorrow in full and post some time later in the week. Moments in there were the absolute best of my life. Never did I wish to be anywhere else.

Might have been up there, definitely wasn't down here.

I'll vouch for that.

Because I'm impatient. Can I ask if you rode it as a BP trip or in one go? I've done it quite a few times in a day, but not since I started bikepacking. It's made it back onto the ever growing list of things to do with a sleeping bag.

To be fair yeah it was right and proper between Newtown and Mach, so your neck of the woods. Presumed that was just a passing strop among the drizzle.

Sort of both. I took my “ride or die” overly lightweight for this season sleeping kit, 3 seasons bag, bivi, short mat. Wanted to pack a few good hills in while I was in the area rather than take the bike transport flatter route so not much space for sleep before the 6pm train from Bangor. I was on a touring bike and did maybe 50km hard and fast gravel but predominantly roads.

Such an incredible experience. So glad I did it.
