Good read this thread :-bd

Lately it's mostly been Talisker Storm.
I can remember taking various Ardbegs along, also the stronger styles of Jura and Highland Park.

Seems I leave the lighter single malts like Glenmorangie at home.

I fondly remember enjoying a lovely rum with Pete and Karl. Pete had brought with him a Kraken black spice (I think) which I really enjoyed in the crispy Engadin winter air.

On hiking trips of a night or two duration, it's not rare that my girlfriend and I will have Baileys, Orochata or G&T.

My name is Gian and I'm an addict.

Nah, Stayin' Alive (ah - ah - ah? ) is always my favoured 'go to' option. The alternative is apparently really hard to get back from if you change your mind. Better the devils I know than the Devil I don't know (but probably deserve). Admittedly I might view things differently this Saturday afternoon!

No flask 'cos I don't really do spirits - the clanking chains and woo-woo noises keep me awake under my tarp.

Got the flu mate. Wiped out since 2nd Jan. On water, rice and stewed apple, now moving to peppermint tea and yoghurt.

I'm sure normal (improved ) service will be resumed

Don't worry Stu, as the only non-drinker at WRT this year I won a bloody hip flask in the raffle !

Luckily you swapped it for a lovely Chris King bottle cage... which got nabbed by my daughter for her bike! 😭

A fave is Aberlour A'bunadh cask strength. Lovely stuff. Needs diluting a bit so more volume for weight than a normal dram too :-bd

Despite being a whisky drinker (Islay’s If you please) I tend to take a wee bottle of red wine (one of them plastic ones, usually a Shiraz-Cab from M&S) as it’s the right amount of alcohol for me and I don’t own a hipper (I do have a look for one of the snow peak Ti ones every now and again but being an aberdonian I freak out at the cost... ).

Plus wine is refined and cultured doncha know...

My hip flasks are generally full of Laphroaig, although I've occasionally drifted into strangeness by having leftover cointreau of amaretto in one. Always a fan of something strong flavoured, so I'll not glug it all at once!

Drink the wine, then save the bottle for your next trip.
