Not really keen on spirits so I take either methadone or mushroom tea. If it's a special occasion, then a mix of the two. It helps with the alien abduction trauma.

Ooh methadone. For those who struggle to sleep I can recommend a nice methadone and nightnurse cocktail

Southern comfort or Jack Daniels Honey is my usual tipple from the flask. However seeing as Santa was kind on the bottle front this year it looks like a few trips will be Southern Comfort nights!

I do drink but not usually when I'm bikepacking, the older I get the less inclined I am to indulge for some reason. What happened to TLS guys?

Hip flasks are very compatible with TLS. Compared to beer, they represent a far lighter and smaller volume of fluid for a given number of alcohol units.

I can't abide spirits but will drink an occasional G&T. I'll drink a bit of red wine and port but mostly prefer beer. There's no way I'm carrying sufficient beer for a piss up on a bivy so camping is a strictly dry affair for me. Being in my 50's I try not to drink too much for a couple of hours before bed anyway.

I don't drink coffee either, the only hot beverage I'll drink is green tea.

I have a thing for making sloe gin, damson vodka, and variations of for bivvy trips, best i have made recently (well made in 2017 and just opened) is plum and sloe vodka, in which i put fennel seeds and black pepper corns, gives it a lovely fruity taste with a little spicy aniseed kick, slides down a bit too well...

Ardbeg, Old Pulteney, last trip had some Daftmills (beautiful dram). Though I've also tried a wee bottle of Jägermeister as a chaser to some Old Jock beer very nice :-bd

In Mike's case it's what's on the outside of his hip flask that's important

It may be heresy, but every trip I've been on with my mate Matt has been accompanied with a hip flask full of coffee liqueur. It's become a little tradition for us. Its lovely in the morning under the tarp with a strong coffee as well.😉

Is it bad to say I have 4 hip flasks? One even has some mini shot glasses included, had some good nights with that!

Mine came with 2 stainless steel shot "glasses" which I always take.
