Does anyone know if i were to reduce the pike from 120 travel to 100 travel if the phyical height of the fork stays the same or i loose 20mm in height... i want to change the height of the front of the stooge as 120 pushes it up to much i should of got the 100mm fork?
So wondered if by changing the air chamber thingy it will loose me 20mm

Funnily enough I am just about to buy a 120mm fork for a Stooge build.
I checked with Andrew he thinks it will be ok.

Hmmm i asked andy the same and he suggested the 120mm which is fine, but i personally think it kicks the front end up to high.

I'm fairly sure the 29er Pike can't go smaller than 120mm (i have two of them and I've changed the travel a few times).

But I'm probably incorrect!

I know bugger all about the Pike fork, but, there should be printed measurement scale thing on the top of one of the fork tubes. If it's got 100mm on it then you should be good to reduce the height. To answer your other question, reducing the fork from 120mm to 100mm will lower the front of the bike.

Assuming it's an air fork can you lower the pressure to get more sag to try it at the lower height, bit of a bodge I know and would adding bottomless tokens then help the rate ramp up through the travel to stop it diving down? I'm no expert though.

Maybe call one of the specialists, I can't remember which one is the Rockshox expert, tf tuned?

Was thinking more about this in the wee small hours and to demonstrate how little I know or understand of bike geometry came up with two solutions.

1. To emulate the 100mm shock let some air out of the existing 120mm shock so that the sag is now equal to the sag of the 100mm. This will set the bike at the level of the new one so you can try it on the road.

2. My preferred solution would be to play with the stem and lower the bars.

It all works in my head but dont know how practical these are.

Pikes over reba, was simple i didnt like how the reba felt. The pikes are so much better built and when im not bikepacking and just throwing them over rocks i want a plusher front end.
