Anyone tried 650b on older warbird?
I’ve been digging around tinternet trying to find an answer but most searches just find the more recent models which definitely do take 650b. I’m on a 2015 version (fluoro yellow one) which has limited clearance for 700c tyres so I’m keen to try some 650b if I can. Obvious answer is to track some down locally (I live in Bristol) and sling them in the frame but as I’ve seen a few owners on here I thought I’d check. Thanks!

I'll have a word with Shona / Rich over the weekend, I very much imagine that they'll know.

Sadly not, they were just setting off as I arrived but Rich got ill so I didn't see either again ... I'll ask for you tomorrow.

Much better now
Word is, the pre-142 backends did come fitted with a 700 x 38 tyre but you could squeeze a 40 in there but clearance for mud was tight. BB drop is the same as the newer frames so no issues with smashing pedals etc. Shona thinks she once tried a 650 x 41 Knard in there but nothing bigger. My personal feeling is that you'd probably get 650 x 42 in with clearance but probably not much more*.
*obviously, this will all depend on the actual tyre.

Thanks for that! I’ve had a 700x40 g one on but it was tight for clearance. 650b I wasn’t sure if the little s bend in the chain stays would catch. I’d settle for a 650b with 40ish as I think the extra volume over 700c would be a winning combo. Hmm might see if can borrow a wheel set to try!
