Carrying Cham Cream
Rather than carry a massive pot, I made some sachets using our vacuum sealer. It's a pretty thick film so hopefully when I stop to use them the cream with still be in the sachet and not all over the inside of my bags!
I've also made up some bags to keep my sweet snack separate from my savoury snacks in the decathlon feed bags.

I'm reasonably certain you've created about a third of the threads on the first page of the forum.
Maybe you should have a "Duncan's Ramblings" thread.

Re: Carrying Cham Cream
We use some old makeup pots of Cath's, they are about 1/3rd the size of a film roll pot.
Better weight than wisdom, a traveller cannot carry
Re: Carrying Cham Cream
It's recycled film that can be recycled again. We don't tend to have anything that's not recyclable in our house these days.

Jen gets all her stuff refilled so if I nicked a pot I would be in trouble !whitestone wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 4:35 pmWe use some old makeup pots of Cath's, they are about 1/3rd the size of a film roll pot.

Re: Carrying Cham Cream
The travel tubes of Sudocrem are a decent size for a multiday trip for a chap with a large area to cover.
I've managed to refill the tubes by microwaving a big pot and syringing the softened cream into the tube.
For a one-er like this weekend I generally give everything the thickest covering I can and hope for the best.

Fortunately not. I did the 2017 event but it looks wetter than I remember.

Re: Carrying Cham Cream
I’ve only used arse cream twice , once on my jogle about 700 miles in, passing a little bike shop I popped in mainly as I can’t resist it, and feeling slightly worn a brought a little pot. I left the shop and after looking over my shoulders retreated to the nearest public convenience and liberally greased my arse, I’m not sure if the brand or indeed what they put in it but sweet Jesus it saved my life. The other time was 2/3 of the way through Spain, the language differences made for an interesting exchange
I’m not quite sure why I only use it as a last resort, it works and I’ve been able to carry on for hundreds of miles on a tragic arse after application. I think, what with bib shorts it’s just a step too far down a road I never wanted to travel down.

Re: Carrying Cham Cream
"nearest public convenience" - not sure that would have actually helped your case Steve, may even have severely hindered it if you think about it!! "Excuse me Sir....". My most public arse-cream-application-location was in broad daylight in Castleton high street. Had forgotten my Bumly cream or whatever it's called and managed to source some Sudacrem from the chemist. Was desperate enough to slap it on as soon as I was out of the door. My mate L is ex-special forces and even he couldn't watch while I carried out the operation.

I use a Kinder surprise ''egg' for my chamois cream. I only use a bit so one filling lasts ages.

Re: Carrying Cham Cream
For multi-day trips, I carry extra cream in one of those pump-action travel bottles that you can get from Boots/Sainsbury's etc.
That did lead to a potentially embarrassing moment, involving me holding the bottle of cream, and the wet wipes, whilst my friend hid behind a tree, to sooth his soreness. Shortly after resuming our journey, we realised that we may have been caught on security cameras, as it turned out we were only metres from the perimeter wall of Broadmoor prison.
